hmmm, way to go. Useless Dick was in it for 20 years, and he could not even the front the door to get into parliament.
Congrats Bob! With Justin and Co. doing their best to do their worst, we will be counting on you to challenge them at every opportunity!
LOL, in the short few weeks Trudeau has been in power, he’s accomplished a fair amount, including repairing our reputation internationally.
Go ahead, hate the Liberals, but I suggest waiting at least a few months so you’ve got something to complain about
Shadow cabinet..perfect description..because of all the behind closed door crap Harper pulled its a perfect name..
Btw thanks for more lies about the deficit cons.. What a shock..they where cooking the books.
Actually he has accomplished nothing since he formed the Government. He has gone to the environment summit with Harpers plan. He is trying to implement his refugee program, and he is trying to get rid of some of the Conservative legislation,
I agree that he needs more time to show what he can and will do, however right now he is up to his ass in travelling around the world, meeting with leaders, etc;, and basically trying to convince people he actually has some mettle.
I suspect he is about worn out as he has been running flat out since the beginning of the election, and with jet lag etc; he must be about out of steam.
His hand must be worn out from signing autographs and waving at people, and his face is frozen into a smile.
Perhaps he should take a couple of days off and rest.
I thought for sure Doherty would have got something in the shadow cabinet. Maybe trade critic because of his vast knowledge of the Trans Pacific Partnership, or perhaps transportation critic because of his super success at marketing the PG airport. (snicker…)
So the deficit, and Trudeau ran on increasing the deficit which is okay but inheriting a small deficit is bad. The liberals can be so confusing. Now will the liberals us this so called deficit as an excuse to reduce the deficit they planned? This would be fun to watch if it wouldn’t hit my pocket book so much.
Justin time to stop dimpled selfies and pull on your big boy boots, the Roy Rogers ones.
I have never heard a new parties finance minister come in and say.
“Wow, the books look a lot better than we thought.”, of course they blame the last government. Does the politician really believe we are that naïve.
Who is Zimmer? Never did anything in his last term so can’t really expect something from him now. Shadow cabinet !!
Does anyone else see the irony in Zimmer being in the shadow cabinet as deputy critic for Families, Children and Social Development? This is his reward for the derogatory statements he made during the election campaign about First Nations women.
Sorry Palopu, but Justin has accomplished a couple of things.
He said that he would run a deficit in order to increase infrastructure spending!
So far, while in Turkey at the G20 Summit, he announced $14.25 million in funding to strengthen infrastructure development in INDONESAI, in order to promote sustainable economic growth and reduce poverty in the country.
Then, while at the APEC Summit in Manila, Philippines, he announced that Canada is contributing $12.9 million over five years (2015-2020), for the Vietnamese Cooperative Enterprise Development (VCED) project, to increase the competiveness of Vietnamese agricultural cooperatives, helping create economic opportunities for small-holder farmers, particularly female farmers.
So, Justin is well on his way to increasing our deficit, by increasing infrastructure spending, but so far none of the spending has been here in Canada!
Hang on to your wallets! Can’t trust Justin!
According to another local news source, Todd Doherty was made a deputy critic for Indigenous Affairs and the Asia Pacific Gateway.
HG do you have any clue as to where the money/investment is coming from ? At least he’s not buying defunct shopping malls in Spain like stupid did .
Too funny ! If you don’t know something either search it or just ask or you can just put a thumbs down on reality . That will make it go away . Kids ! Clueless kids .
With Zimmer as Deputy Critic for Families,Children and Social Development as long as you have a job you’ll be okay gaining good old Bob’s support!
Man, the lefties are out in full force today!
You guys bitch and moan about Bob and Todd being elected and you bitch and moan that we won’t have any representation as a result!
You guys bitch and moan that they will be just a couple of back-benchers doing little more than warming seats!
Now both Bob and Todd land posts and roles in the Shadow Cabinet and still you bitch and moan!
And yet you lefties criticize me and others for posting about the pathetic reality of Justin and Co.
Guess you lefties can give, but you just can’t take!
Hey, wait a minute, isn’t taking something you lefties are good at? Take, take, take, as long as someone else has to pay for whatever it is you want to take!
As Ataloss so eloquently put it “Kids, Clueless Kids”!
Cheers!
…….and let the bitching and moaning commence! ;-)
He Spoke….you obviously make comments about Harris bereft of fact..
Rather than make well deserved comments about your ignorance, I thought perhaps a little direction might help your brain kick in before your fingers..
Re your Harris comment…

Just sayin’
I guess we are just always going to be Toad and Kbob’s shadow cabinet critic constituents.
“So the deficit, and Trudeau ran on increasing the deficit which is okay but inheriting a small deficit is bad.”
Yes, it is when Harper swore up a tree that not only is his budget a balanced one but that it would be a surplus budget! Trudeau will add some to the debt, but remember that Harper added 160 billion to the debt.
Prince George:-“Trudeau will add some to the debt, but remember that Harper added 160 billion to the debt. ”
———————————————————————–
Lets just see what the sum of that ‘some’ actually amounts to after four years of Trudeau. And how much our taxes will be rising as a result. Oh, I forgot, they’ll only be rising for “the wealthy”. Be interesting to see how that all pans out. Justin better have a bag full of diversions to keep everyone’s attention focussed elsewhere when it comes down to how he’s going to pay for the kind of Canada he wants back.
Critics of families, children, social development and indigenous affairs. Yes, they both seem uniquely qualified to criticize those groups.
Joe Blow, what unique qualifications does Justin have? I mean, besides his trust fund, his dad’s old Mercedes and oh, of course his great hair!
So you guys are all excited that Todd has been name a critic. We have elected a guy that is being paid to a job that we all do for free. Criticize the government. Wow I truly hope he can do more than that. Time to stop campaigning Todd, and get some work done.
Here’s hoping
Dave. The critic’s job that Todd has is no different that all the Official Opposition, critics jobs in the Federal Government in Ottawa since Confederation.
So, whats your point,. Perhaps you should take a **time out** and look into how Canada’s Government works.
PrinceGeorge, here’s an interesting article for you….
“Liberals’ deficit claim doesn’t add up
It will be easier for the Liberals to run on their plan of deficits if they can credibly claim they inherited one from the Conservatives. They can’t.”
Stephen Gordon, November 20, 2015
ht tp://www.macleans.ca/economy/economicanalysis/the-liberals-deficit-claim-doesnt-add-up/
PrinceGeorge, if you haven’t the time to review the article and the numbers illustrated within it at the link that I provided in my last post, I thought that you might perhaps be interested in the final two paragraphs which I graciously provided for you…
“It seems pretty clear that the goal of the EFP is to prepare the ground for the deficits the Liberals plans to run; it will be easier for the government to do so if it can credibly claim that it inherited a deficit situation in the current fiscal year.
Based on the information made available so far, I don’t think that claim would be credible. I don’t doubt that the government will produce a deficit for 2015-16 if it wants one, but it would be the Liberals’ deficit. They should take ownership of it.”
Hmmmm, it would be the Liberals’ deficit and they should take ownership of it!
Wow!
seamutt, I caught your last post on the Friday Free-For-All thread and I thought that you might enjoy reading a Letter to the Editor that I saw in today’s Vancouver Province.
Unfortunately, comments to that thread have already been closed, so I’ll post the letter here in the hopes that you, and P Val will both have the opportunity to read it. Enjoy!

“Maybe Trudeau isn’t ready
I voted for Justin Trudeau and now wish I had not.
A true leader adapts to the constant changes a leadership role is challenged with, much like an entrepreneur does.
Trudeau is failing in his first major challenge. I am concerned that maybe former prime minister Stephen Harper was right — that Trudeau is not ready and that I made a mistake in voting for him.”
“Based on the information made available so far, I don’t think that claim would be credible. I don’t doubt that the government will produce a deficit for 2015-16 if it wants one, but it would be the Liberals’ deficit. They should take ownership of it.”
1. Based on the information made available so far = the author made a decision on admittedly incomplete information.
2. deficit for 2015-16 = April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016. 7+ of those months belong to the Cons. <5 months belong to the Libs.
Why on earth would anyone take ownership of a program, a project, a budget after a bad start and be responsible for it, especially after shutting down parliament a month early when they could have been doing something to get themselves out of the pickle they are responsible for? Perhaps we have discovered another reason why shutting parliament down earlier was a “good” idea for the Cons.
On top of that, it is nothing new that the Cons were running a deficit and the Libs likely know that. It is not as if they did not have access to the information, information that most people would not readily have access to. I suggest the Libs knew what was happening, knew that there was a mini-recession, and that to try to get out of the recession, they needed to put some money into the hands of Canadians via such things as infrastructure programs, research programs, etc.
As far as spending money in other countries goes, much of those dollars actually return to Canada in that the assistance is provided as much as possible with Canadian service companies and Canadian goods. All governments provide such help, no matter whether left or right or center. It is mainly a matter of where they spend it.
“Trudeau is failing in his first major challenge.”
In case someone does not know, leaders are judged by people based on their point of view. They are typically not judged by independent, objective individuals.
Even 40 years later, history will judge leaders based on new prejudices or prejudices handed down from generation after generation.
The statement is useless. It tells me more about the writer than about Trudeau. I, along with everyone else on here judges him as well as Harper base on their point of view.
“Opinion” is a synonym for “point of view”.
This site used to be called “opinion 250”. It is still a site which includes the opinions of commenters as well as those who write articles under “VIEWS”.
Why one would quote from another ordinary person on another media outlet is beyond me. At least give me some statistic such as 30% of the letters to the editor to the ****** newspaper are in favour of ??????? At least that would have some meaning, even though that is still only anecdotal.
“A true leader adapts to the constant changes a leadership role is challenged with, much like an entrepreneur does.”
I like that statement. Harper was unable to adapt to that change. As a result he got the boot!
Thanks for the quote!!! ;-)
Gee…how come Stephen Harper didn’t get a shadow post ?
Could it be because he is so popular that his own party told him to get back in the closet ?
gopg2015:-” I suggest the Libs knew what was happening, knew that there was a mini-recession, and that to try to get out of the recession, they needed to put some money into the hands of Canadians via such things as infrastructure programs, research programs, etc.”
=========================================================================
Why do they need to put money into the hands of Canadians THROUGH ANY OF THOSE THINGS? Why not just put money in the hands of Canadians in ways which DON’T create additional ‘costs’ which then have to be recovered through future INCREASED taxation, (or export earnings, which are a little difficult to generate in a recession)? One way in which the Conservatives did this was the Home Renovation Tax Credit. Another was the reduction of taxes, like the 2% cut to the GST, and reductions in personal Income Taxes. There are other ways in which it could be done, too. And should be, on a more permanent basis. But you won’t get ANY of that from the Trudeau Liberals. They are a Party that is the traditional Party of the ‘debt-dealers’, and anything that enhances THEIR position, and power, is the way they’ll go.
gopg2015:-“As far as spending money in other countries goes, much of those dollars actually return to Canada in that the assistance is provided as much as possible with Canadian service companies and Canadian goods. ”
————————————————————————-ALL of these dollars return to Canada. Canadian dollars are only ‘effective demand’ for CANADIAN goods, services, and securities. You don’t buy anything made in Indonesia with ‘Canadian’ dollars, you buy it with Indonesian currency. Which would buy absolutely nothing here until its been exchanged for Canadian dollars. Trudeau is putting money in the hands of Canadians when he makes a gift of them to Indonesia. The downside is that these dollars are not ‘debt-free’ injections of money into Canada’s economy. WE have to recoup HIS largesse through the taxes we pay. And what have WE received in return? Some ‘jobs’, perhaps? But they will be fleeting, whereas the repayments, with interest, will not.
