Prince George, B.C. – REAPS Executive Director Terri McClymont and her six- member team of volunteers spent a very busy Saturday at the organization’s recycling centre on Gorse Street.

They were busy boxing up donated good-quality used toys and other items for distribution to organizations in the city which then will provide gifts to youngsters and pets this Christmas.  The donations came from scores of Prince George residents who dropped items off during REAPS’ 19th annual Recycle Toy Drive.

McClymont says the number of items going to each agency depends on the needs of each agency.  “Some may need 20,” she says, “while the next may need 60.”  The boxed toys will be delivered to the agencies on Monday.

The community groups receiving donations include:

Eco Guards, Child Development Centre, Carney Hill Neighbourhood Centre, AIMHI, Intersect, Hadih House, Family Connections, Phoenix Transition Society, Elizabeth Fry, New Babies, ASAP, Bags of Love, Elizabeth Fry Teens, Native Friendship Centre, Northern Women’s Centre, SPCA and the PG Humane Society.

And without doubt recognition is given to Bonnie, Val, Marilyn, Leanna, Brenda, Riley and Terri who put in the effort to add cheer to the lives of many, many kids this Christmas.
