Prince George, B.C. – When Prince George hosted the Canada Winter Games,  the City  was abuzz with activity and  residents told  City Hall they   wanted to see more  of that kind of celebration.

In response,  the City   has developed a new grant program  it hopes will  keep the party going.

Civic Events Coordinator, Jen Tkachuk says the new Community Celebrations Program will  give financial support to   develop  new events  or help existing events grow “The program will support events that create a festive atmosphere, increase visitation, and make a significant and positive impact in the community.”

The Community Celebrations Program will consider all applications with a minimum request of $5,000 and can support up to 100% of eligible expenses.

The program is jointly funded by the City of Prince George and Tourism Prince George.

The City will provide up to $30,000 in grants each year, and Tourism PG will match the funding.

To find out more about this program and other grants and financial assistance available from the City,   there will be a grant information session on Thursday December 3rd from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in the 2nd floor conference room at City Hall.
