Young Hero Recognized
Mayor Lyn Hall, Angela Shymanski, Lexi Shymanski , Trevor Shymanski Todd Doherty and Scott McWalter celebrate Lexi’s courage.
Prince George, B.C.- Lexi is just five, but showed the courage and wisdom far beyond her years when her family was in trouble and today she was given official recognition for her efforts.
Last summer, Lexi was in a car crash, when the vehicle her mother was driving went over an embankment near Jasper.
With mom unconscious, Lexi managed to undo her 5 point safety harness, get out of the vehicle, and although she was bare foot, climbed to the top of the embankment, and flagged down a vehicle to get help.
Her actions saved the life of of her mother and little brother who were both still in the vehicle down the embankment.
Lexi’s mom had to be resuscitated twice on the way to the hospital, and little brother was in the hospital for six days.
This afternoon, Lexi was the focus of attention as Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall presented her with a coveted Mr. PG , she also received a special letter from MLA Shirley Bond as well as o e fromthe Premier. MP Todd Doherty was also on hand to offer a letter recognizing Lexi’s courage.

Good job little Lexi. Why is McWalter in the photo?
What an incredible thing for this young lady to do. Sounds like great parenting and a girl with the courage to do what needed to be done in a critical incident. Congratulations to all of you.

My first thought as well.
Young Lexi sounds like a remarkable child! Well done.
Isn’t McWalter the “Hell Yeah” Prince George guy ?
Or maybe because he is Doherty’s hair and make-up guy.
Congratulations Lexi and family !
I agree. Why Scott?? Maybe a friend of the family?
Nooo Scott is hanging round Todd so they can push the pipeline through
