Teddy Bear Time
Prince George, B.C. – Hockey fans will want to mark this coming Saturday evening on their calendars.
That’s the night the Prince George Cougars host their arch rivals the Victoria Royals in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
Fans are encouraged to bring any combination of stuffed toys, toques, socks, blankets, and mittens to the game to be tossed on the ice after the home team scores their first goal.
All donations will be collected and distributed to people in need over the holidays.
“When our schedule is first released, one of the first questions I get from fans is when is the Teddy Bear Toss game?”, comments Prince George Cougars Vice President of Business, Andy Beesley.
“We expect the CN Centre to be very full for this game, so we encourage our fans to buy their tickets early to be part of the thrilling atmosphere that only a Teddy Bear Toss game can truly deliver.”
He says another incentive to show up will be a sizeable 50/50 jackpot.
“Since the start of the New Ice Age, Cougars fans have gone home with well over $250,000 from 50/50 draws,” says Beesley. “One can’t help but wonder how big Saturday’s jackpot will be!”
The Cougars are also encouraging additional food and clothing donations and will reward anyone who brings a donation to their office with a 25% discount off white Cougars jerseys.
Last year’s Teddy Bear Toss goal was scored by Zack Pochiro who is now playing professionally in the St.Louis Blues system.
