Prince George, B.C. -The RCMP Venturer and Rover Scouts are no strangers to community service year round, and this season members are busy ringing the bells for the Salvation Army’s Kettle campaign.
These youth spend a lot of their time volunteering in our community assisting various organizations; and during the holiday season it just seems right to give a little of their time to the annual Kettle Campaignsays Special Constable Davy Greenlees, the group’s volunteer advisor.
People seem to respond well to these young men and women in uniform, and they are happy to give a little more.
This is the 6th straight year the youth members have supported the Kettle campaign. For the 6th year in a row, youth members of the RCMP Venturer and Rover Scouts will be supporting the Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign by ringing the bells at several locations around the city.
The Salvation Army is always looking for people to give an hour or two of their time to ring the bells at kettles throughout the city during the holiday season. By doing a few volunteer hours each, these young people fill in several open time slots.
We would really like to encourage others to give a few hours of their own time helping outstates Greenlees.
Just as little as an hour or two means so much in the long run.
If you are interested in helping out, volunteers can contact the Salvation Army Kettle Campaign at 250-564-4000.
The RCMP Venturer and Rover programs were created as a partnership between the RCMP and Scouts Canada to provide local youth vocational training opportunities while supporting community service and enjoying the outdoors. The program has been continuously active with the Prince George RCMP since 2006.
