Prime Minster’s Christmas Message
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has issued the following Christmas message:
“Around the world and across Canada, Christians gather on Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. This is a time when families, friends, and colleagues come together to celebrate the spirit of the season.
“Christmas is an opportunity for giving as well as receiving. Whether it is volunteering time at a local food bank, buying gifts for children in need, or opening doors to someone who may be celebrating alone, the true spirit of Christmas is about connecting with our neighbours and our community.
“This year, Canadians are welcoming thousands of Syrian refugees to our country – people who have been forced to flee their homeland due to war and conflict. I encourage all Canadians to show them a warm holiday welcome in keeping with our values of compassion, kindness, and generosity.
“From our family to yours, Sophie and I wish you all a most joyous holiday season and a merry Christmas.”

It means a lot when a 1%’er who pays almost no taxes, lives for free on the backs of taxpayers, has zero expenses in life etc… when he tells the rest of us minions to help others, pay more taxes so he and the freeloaders can live better… it’s just so inspiring.
To you, PG101: A Merry Christmas and a positively Happy and Healthy New Year!
To all you cons.. How about leaving the hate at the gate and have a merry Xmas.. This is a time to enjoy, so enjoy it. Hate the liberals all you want but wait till another day please. Time to show a touch of class.
The last guy became a multimillionaire while in office . Once he leaves politics we shall watch as the revolving door into the corporate realm opens for him to make even more millions likely from oil corps . This is why I tend to trust Trudeau a little more . He has no need to feather his nest at the expense of us Canadians .

Touché.
And a merry Christmas to all my friends in Prince George
Cheers
P Val, I’m really trying but it’s hard to be “nice” when our Prime Minister is such a clueless and classless twit, haha!
Trust, well sorry so far all smoke and mirrors, no real issues have been addressed yet.
Past liberal prime ministers got set up quite well after office also. With the Trudeaus don’t conveniently overlook the silver spoons.
Ataloss:-“This is why I tend to trust Trudeau a little more . He has no need to feather his nest at the expense of us Canadians .”

Then why are WE paying for his nannies?
Just how stupid can you be cred? The Prime Minister and First Lady have three little kids . The two nannies are part of the expenses allotted them . I am dismayed that they don’t have three nannies of the ninja variety In case one of the con nut bars try something to hurt them . Then of coarse you lot would blame them for under staffing , I’m sure .
“First Lady” ? Such aspirations to grandeur. At OUR expense. If Justin has “…no need to feather his nest at the expense of us Canadians”, then he shouldn’t have any ‘need’ for ‘us Canadians’ to pay for his nannies. After all, he and his Party are now telling a whole bunch of hard-working and productive Canadians that pay considerable taxes that they no longer have any ‘need’ of receiving a Child Tax Credit. And maybe they don’t. But they don’t have the Federal government paying for their nannies either. If they want one, or more, they dig into their own pockets. Leading by example? I think NOT.
Then why are WE paying for his nannies?

If I’m not mistaken, the Trudeau family is operating under the same household budget that the Harper family was, except that they’ve managed it so that they can ensure their children are cared for while they perform their official duties.
So I guess we could actually go about this another way. Since the Harper family didn’t have these needs, yet they ran the same budget, what were they using the money to fund? Additional house cleaning services? Personal trainers? Cooking staff? An army of people to shovel their driveway? Drivers to whisk them away to wherever it is they liked to visit? I honestly haven’t a clue, nor do I really care all that much to tell you the truth.
Socredible, maybe you could ask them and get back to us since you seem to care so much about the issue. Oh and Merry Christmas :)
When I asked you how stupid you could be cred , it wasn’t a challenge .
Uh…Christmas, Hanukkah,Quanza, whatever your festival of choice, the whole idea is peace & try to be happy, not to see who can out nasty each other. Merry Christmas all, have a safe & happy holiday season & give thanks for all we enjoy & the lifestyle we are privileged to have.
Look at all the Libs defending their leader, like a flock of sheep. It’s like Bill Gates telling people to pay more taxes, so he and Melinda can have a more prosperous year. The golden child has asked the wealthiest, and soon the middle class, to pay more taxes… so he can feel good about bringing in refugees into Canada, and getting those votes. He won’t make a sacrifice, but he is renovating the house we pay for, so bonus for him I suppose.
NMG:”If I’m not mistaken, the Trudeau family is operating under the same household budget that the Harper family was, except that they’ve managed it so that they can ensure their children are cared for while they perform their official duties.”
You are NOT mistaken.
NMG:”Socredible, maybe you could ask them and get back to us since you seem to care so much about the issue. Oh and Merry Christmas :)
I know that I am not mistaken when I say the election is over and done with! One can either accept the result graciously or carry a bitter grudge for the next several years! It does not matter in the greater scheme of things! Happy Holidays!

The Child Tax Credit was actually phased out by the Harper Government and it was replaced by the Universal Child Care Benefit, which was taxable.
Did you not know that socredible?
Merry Christmas to you, too, NMG. And to Ataloss, too, if he doesn’t find such a wish offensive as an atheist. Or even if he does. Perhaps the Harpers came in under budget? I really don’t know, but it wouldn’t surprise me. They seemed to be able to inhabit 24 Sussex Drive for all the years he was PM without making any complaints about its liveability. I take it Mrs. Harper was able to look after their own offspring without a couple of full time babysitters, but then I’ve never heard of her being described as a “First Lady”, either. Perhaps substance was more important to the Harpers than style?
NMG:-“The Child Tax Credit was actually phased out by the Harper Government and it was replaced by the Universal Child Care Benefit, which was taxable.

No, I didn’t. I’m a ways beyond the age where we still have dependent children, NMG. Regardless, if it was “Universal” it must have been paid to all, no?
Prince George:-“I know that I am not mistaken when I say the election is over and done with! One can either accept the result graciously or carry a bitter grudge for the next several years! It does not matter in the greater scheme of things! Happy Holidays! ”
=========================================================================
True enough. Happy Holidays to you, too, Prince George.
Socredible . Atheists are not offended by the blessings of the religious . We are amused . We did our thing the twenty first to twenty third . That’s New Years btw or Yuletide . So happy belated New Years .
No, I didn’t. I’m a ways beyond the age where we still have dependent children, NMG. Regardless, if it was “Universal” it must have been paid to all, no?

Correct. The Liberals plan does appear to income test the benefits so that those on the lower end of the income scale get more than those on the higher end. I believe there is also a cutoff at which point you wouldn’t get any.
If you listen to the Cons, their plan benefited families more. If you listen to the Libs, they say their is better. Which is correct? It probably depends on your specific family situation so generalizing may be fruitless.
Oh and I should clarify, the Cons didn’t introduce the Universal Child Care Benefit when they eliminated the Child Tax Credit, they expanded on the program that was already there.
I asked Santa for a Sophie Trudeau clone. You still have 3 hours to come through Mr. Claus.
socredible – why are you complaining about something if you know absolutely NOTHING about it? The UCCB is not a good thing. Firstly, it’s taxed. It’s not a credit. It’s added income. Second, it’s universal in amount as well – every single family receives the same per kid (raised to $160 for under 6 and $60 for 6 and up each month), regardless of need. No biggie, you say. The higher incomes will just gave more tax taken off! Totally fair! Nope. I’m a SAHM with a high earning husband. The UCCB is in my name. With no income I pay no tax on any of it. So here I am not short on money and never paying a penny in childcare and the government is giving me $220 a month for childcare. This made sense to someone. I can only assume they thought it would get them a couple votes. Didn’t work.
There seems to be some confusion between the CCTB and thr UCCB. CCTB (Canada child tax benefit) is not up for review as far as I know. It is available on a sliding scale and targets lower incomes. UCCB (Universal child care benefit) was the conservative’s sad answer to a national childcare plan. It’s supposed to allow us to “make our own choices”. Instead lower incomes scramble to find affordable placements for their kids while I get thousands of dollars for no reason.
