Building permits behind 2014 numbers

Monday, January 4, 2016 @ 6:28 PM

Prince George, B.C. – The final numbers aren’t available yet for  building permits and construction in 2015 in Prince George, but the November numbers  indicate there is still a long way to go to match  the  total permit values achieved in 2014.

As of the end of November,  there had been  463 permits valued at  just under $84 million dollars issued.  That compares to  481 permits valued at just over $121 million for the same eleven months  in 2014.

Focusing on the month of November, there were  30 permits issued  valued at $6.387 million in November of 2015.  That compares to  46 permits valued at $6.98 million in the same month in 2014.

The driving force  in  the November 2015  stats is the  number and value of permits for  Commercial renovations.    There were nine  such permits issued in November 2015,  with a value of  $4.08 million,  including  $2.75 million  for  an addition to Northland Nissan and  a permit for just under $387 thousand for an addition to Canadian Tire.  In the same month  a year ago, there had been 8  commercial renovation permits issued  with a value of $1.67 million.
