Cougars to Honour Brewer & Zorn This Weekend
Prince George, B.C. – Two former Prince George Cougars defenceman will be honoured prior to puck drop versus the visiting Victoria Royals Saturday night.
Cougars part-owner Eric Brewer and Dr. Jeff Zorn will be presented with WHL Alumni Achievement Awards.
As part of the WHL’s 50th Season celebration, each club in the league will be recognizing two of their alumni with such awards.
Brewer will be honoured in the professional hockey category, which recognizes a Cougars alumnus/WHL graduate who has gone on to play hockey at the highest level.
Zorn meanwhile will be honoured in the Alumni Achievement Award category which recognizes a Cougar alumnus/WHL graduate who has experienced a highly successful business career through support received from the WHL Scholarship program.
Brewer played three seasons with the Cougars (1995-1998) and went on to play 1009 career NHL regular season games scoring 77 goals along with 194 assists.
He also won five gold medals internationally including a 2002 Olympic Gold from Salt Lake City, Utah.
Zorn joined the Cougars prior to the start of the 1997-98 season and played in 130 career games with the Cats.
After graduating from the WHL in 2000 he chose to utilize his WHL scholarship and enrolled at the University of Alberta and spent the next five years playing with the Golden Bears hockey team.
Zorn later received his Doctoral from the University of Alberta Medical School and is currently working as part of the Urology Team at North Island Urology in Courtney, B.C.
