Free Beer, New Car, Extra Incentives to Watch Cougars This Weekend
Prince George, B.C – Aside from their winning record, there are a couple of extra incentives to go watch the Prince George Cougars host the Kamloops Blazers this weekend at CN Centre.
Tonight, every fan in attendance will either receive a free beer (if you’re 19 years old or older) or a free Pepsi.
Then on Saturday, every fan in attendance that is 19 years old or older will have the chance to win a brand new 2015 Nissan Micra that will be given away during the second intermission.
So with the Cougars riding high in the standings, why the need for the promotions?
“We believe that hockey is a super exciting game that people want to come and watch but we also respect the fact that people have limited numbers of entertainment dollars,” says Business VP Andy Beesley.
“And when they come out to see a Cougars game we want to give them a full evening of entertainment and value. Yes we think the hockey is enough to come and see but we want to add all the bells and whistles and whip cream with the cherry on top.”

I hope they fill the stands. Cougars hockey is great hockey!
incentive or desperation?
If the product you provide is good, this would this be necessary?
The last game I attended was their first season due to always being away from home. A friend took me to a game and I was blown away at how much fun it was and especially how friendly and professional all the staff are. Unbelievable actually, so the next day I went and purchased a set of tickets for all remaining games and will definitely get season tickets next year.I can’t get to a game this week due to work,ha. It was no problem giving them away though. In my opinion they are way too cheap,I am not sure how they cover costs with that pricing. A drive thru gut bomb with fries costs almost as much!
IT obviously sounds as if you havn’t been to Cougars game bcracer. Take the time to see one, because you might be surprised at how good the PRODUCT is!!
GO COUGARS GO
Well, I don’t like Budweiser or Pepsi, however, the couple games I’ve seen this season was excellent hockey.
tomyd, what makes you so sure I haven’t been?
And the Scourge in Red [rcmp] will be out in full force to catch all those drunks…

Beesley addressed this in the story.
This is a marketing scheme pure and simple. Nothing wrong with marketing your product, but one has to wonder why it is necessary if
A. The Cougars are playing so well, and
B. There are so many hockey fans in Prince George.
Its interesting to note that people attend in large numbers for events like the first game of the year, the Teddy Bear toss, the Reader program where they give out free tickets, and those games like the ones talked about above where there is a lot of freebies and hype.
Problem is if there is no **special games** the attendance drops to around 2600 fans per game.
So hopefully with the exceptional playing by the Cougars and some of he marketing they can turn this ship around.
bcracer, for several (far too many) years, the Cougars and their fan base suffered under the previous ownership and management. So much negativity towards the team was generated over this time period.
Unfortunately the new ownership, management and team must deal with the ghosts of the past. There are fair weather fans in the community who still succumb to the negativity of days gone by. These fans still need to be coaxed back, so that they can experience the changes and then hopefully they can change their attitude towards and perception of the team!
Some of us will still go the games, whether we win or lose, we still show up! The rest of the fans are starting to see that the tide has turned or is at least turning, and slowly, slowly the word is getting out and the stands are filling up more than they have in years!
I’ve enjoyed every game that I’ve seen so far this year, win or lose! Lots of people are missing out on some great entertainment! It’s their loss!
Go Cats Go!
It,s all good ! Go Cougars Go !!!
Nice to see the negative posters out today :). The Cougars have stepped up big time, lots of different nights, for kids, families etc.. Now a free beer and of course someone immedialty jumps to the one beer making them drunks… I am guessing that person has a drinking problem or thinks everyone does.
Enjoy the game all.. Have a free beer for me.. Damn work gets in the way sometimes.
Yes must have to wonder why marketing……like almost all professional sports franchises have free so and so night. Towel night, bobble head night, banner night, etc… . It’s popular throughout all sports entertainment……but yes I also wonder why the Cougars find it necessary. Unreal!!!
