Prince George, B.C. – With the rain, and above freezing temperatures, there is a rapid melt happening in Prince George today, and that means lots of pooling water.
Storm drains are still frozen, and water is pooling in low spots on roadways throughout the City
Drivers are advised to slow down as they approach pooling water in an effort to be considerate of pedestrians who don’t need the cold muddy shower.
The warm temps and rain have also closed the Ice Oval for at least today. Depending on the weather, it could possibly re-open over the weekend.
The Ice Oval has been having a very successful season, with more than 7,500 visitors over the 41 days it has been open this winter.

Nope, those are winter swimming holes. Why the heck couldn’t the streets have been cleared better, the drains found & opened ahead of this thaw? Everyone that watches weather reports knew it was coming!!
Being pro-active is easier. Side note: a city crew out trimming trees along 5th Ave near Spruceland. They were cutting down a willow bush about 6 ft tall?! DUH!!
be respectful of walkers and dont be that a$$ who splashes people
ntkr14; That is interesting! Whenever we called to have bushes obstructing sight lines at intersections after about August, they told us their arborists we off until the next year. Call back then!
Also, it is illegal for any vehicle to splash a pedestrian. There is a fine for that if a license number can be obtained.
“Whenever we called to have bushes obstructing sight lines at intersections after about August, they told us their arborists we off until the next year. Call back then!” .. I find that curious since the city arborists usually do thier pruning in the fall. You obviously talked to the wrong person.
I’ve called the city in the winter for branch removal, and they came to fix it no problem.
Noticed lots of people creating ten foot high waves, driving through the many large puddles at too great a speed.
They are not doing their vehicles any favours by doing that.
