Tuesday, February 2, 2016 @ 12:32 PM

Prince George, B.C.  –  Hot off the heels of the Coldsnap Festival in Prince George, the  Celebrate Prince George  Festival is ready to kick off this Friday.

More than 100 activities  have been  noted   in the schedule which  rolls some existing  events  in with  special  activities  organized  for the  Festival  which starts on  Friday the 5th and  continues through to the 14th.

“We really wanted to  build on the momentum  created during the Canada Winter Games, and to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Games” says Mayor Lyn Hall.

Many of the  events were already planned before  the  Celebrate Prince George Festival  was announced,  such as  the Cougars and Spruce Kings games,  but  Mayor Hall  says  there are a number of events  which were developed specifically for this  10 day party . “There’s the  Northern Lights wine mulling contest, the Railway and Forestry museum is  continuing it’s celebration of lights  with admission  being  a donation to the food bank,  and then there’s the  celebration in the Canada Games Plaza on the 13th  which will have  music,  food vendors and  fireworks.”

Many of the events are scheduled  for venues  which were  used during the Canada Winter Games “We  just wanted to highlight some of the facilities, which are really a mainstay in this community” says Mayor Hall.

Tabor Mountain  is one of the  Games venues that will  be  featured  this weekend as the Nor-Am Snowboard Cross competition   takes place on Thursday and Friday. “This is  the kind of event we had hoped would happen in Prince George following the Games” says  Mayor Hall “The Nor-Am Snowboard Cross will  bring participants from all over the world, it’s a really  big event for Prince George.”

The complete  schedule  can be found here,   and 250News will publish the daily schedule  each  day of the  Celebrate Prince George  Festival.
