Tomorrow marks the start of the”Celebrate Prince George Festival”. 250News is putting out the call for your photos that depict all that is amazing about Prince George and the best of those photos will be eligible for prizes. Send us your photos of events, scenery, wildlife, activities, anything you think shows something special about P.G. or what makes it special to you, and we will publish the best of those photos each day of the Celebrate Prince George Festival.
Readers can vote on their favourite in the comment section.
Only one vote per commenter will be counted. The five photos with the most daily votes during the contest, will make it to the finalist round.
The top five will be published on Sunday February 14th, and once again, readers will be called upon to vote for their favourite ( again one vote per commenter) .
Daily voting on photos (including the finalist round) will be open from 3:45 am to 5 p.m .
The photo with the most votes in the finalist round will receive a cheque for $250 dollars while 2nd prize will be a pair of tickets to the Lord of the Dance and a cheque for $25 dollars. The remaining three will each receive a pair of tickets to Lord of the Dance.
Send your photos to:
elaine@250news.com
Remember to include a phone number so we can notify you. We will not publish the name of the submissions we publish during the daily voting period as we would like the photos to be judged on the image, not the person who took the shot. If your photo makes it to the final five, your name will be published in a final list of prize winners which will be posted on Monday February 15th.
The contest starts now, with submissions being accepted for publication tomorrow. Submissions will be accepted until 5 p.m each day from today (February 4th) until 5p.m. Friday February12th. The top five will be published on Sunday February 14th, and winners announced on Monday February 15th.

Thank you Elaine, gives photo enthusiast a chance to make a buck or two.
The voting seems a little confusing. Are there 5 pictures chosen every day until the end of the contest? Are those 5 pictures then taken out of the contest until the final? If a photo is put in today and can get votes from now until the end of the contest then any photos put in at the end don’t stand a chance of getting enough votes. If it is total votes overall why confuse the issue with saying “daily votes”? The system is too convoluted this way. Why not simply allow 1 picture submission per person and then at the end of the contest the top three or five who got the most votes win? The system you have in place now looks like each day 5 pictures are picked based on votes and put into a final pool, but when the final five is selected than your picture after being one of the 5 highest on any given day can be knocked out because of lower votes. Having a lower vote count on any particular day can simply be a condition of the day, low readership for that day or simply a day when people aren’t into the comment section. Leaves too much to circumstance to be a credible voting system. I know it is just for fun, which means the voting should be as simple as possible.
