Prince George, B.C. – Two local pubs are looking to cash in on today’s Superbowl matchup between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers.

“Yeah, definitely,” says Nathan Coole, owner of the Westwood Pub. “I mean for a Sunday it draws out a big crowd and with tomorrow being a holiday I expect it to be even busier.”

He says a lot of preparation goes into getting ready for the Superbowl, including making sure enough food and drink is on hand.

“We plan to sell a lot of beer, 20 kegs easily,” says Coole. “And around 1,300 wings which works out to roughly 130 pounds.”

The BX Pub across town is also ramping up for a busy day. “Yes we are. We have lots of reservations and we’re ready to go,” says bartender Brittany Read. “It’s definitely one of the busiest days of the year.”

She says Superbowl is always fun for staff too.

“It’s so much fun, the atmosphere is crazy and we have prizes and it’s just a fun time.”

As for predictions, Coole says Carolina will be tough to beat.

“I know everyone wants to see Peyton Manning win one last time but unfortunately I think the Panthers are going to be too strong for them.”
