Open House Set for Haldi Road School Neighbours

Friday, February 12, 2016 @ 3:59 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Residents  who live in  the Haldi Road neighbourhood  have been invited to attend an open house to  learn more about the  new proposal for the former  school.

The City has sent  notifications to  area residents advising that an open house will be  held  on February 24th  at  the Vanway Elementary School  from 5:30 to 7:30  pm.

As was reported on 250News  on Thursday,  the  new proposal  would  see a  dog  boarding kennel  established on the site,  if  Council approves the proposed rezoning.

The site has been the centre of controversy  as the previous proposal for the former school  called for  the site to be  changed to a  therapeutic  centre  that would house up  to  30 women.

The new proposal  would like to see the OCP amended to  remove   policy section 7.5.9 which   would “permit  a Therapeutic Community Care Facility on Lot C, District Lot 1597, Cariboo District, Plan 20539 [5877 Leslie Road] for the supportive residential care of up to 30 persons who received care or support primarily related to substance dependence, mental health issues or both.”

The new proposal also   calls  for  the removal of  the  use of Community Care Facility, Therapeutic from the AR2 Rural Residential zone and add “Animal Breeding and Boarding” to the  AR2 Rural residential zone for this specific property only.

The  proponents would also like  a review of the restrictive  covenant  on  the title of the property which calls for the well  on the property to  be capped.

City staff and the  applicant will attend the  open house to answer any questions about the proposal  and the  application process.

What a breath of fresh air compared to the last Mayor and Council.

And how many are still from the last council?

Think the Mayor directs City Administration a heck of a lot better.

This mayors doing a lot better than scary Shari did!
