Prince George, BC – Harry Potter fans will find themselves transported to Hogwarts at UNBC tonight, via a two-part fundraiser that will captivate both wizards and muggles, alike.
UNBC’s Musical Productions President, Arielle Bernier, says the evening begins with a condensed live performance of some of the best songs and scenes from A Very Potter Musical, starting at 7pm in the Canfor Theatre. Doors open at 6:30pm and admission is by donation.
The fun for all ages continues afterwards with a Yule Ball – another Potter tradition – that will feature a costume contest, trivia, games like quidditch pong, and dancing in the Northern University Student Centre. It starts at 8:30pm and attendees can select which House of Hogwarts they’d like to sit with for the evening, with their $10 ticket purchase. (check here, to see if tickets are still available)
This is the fourth time the club has hosted this type of fundraiser, and the second of the year. Bernier says the Harry Potter evenings have been crucial in raising the funds needed to put on the club’s major productions. “The show we have coming up is going to cost us $20-thousand dollars to put on and we’re only one month away. So, we’re in the last, scrounging stages – trying to put together $10-thousand dollars to be able to put our show on in the Prince George Playhouse.”
‘The Addams Family – A Musical Comedy’ will run from March 31st to April 9th. (click here, for more information)
