Prince George, BC – City Council has approved a development permit and variance that will allow for the construction of a strata housing development on the corner of Davis Road and Ellington Avenue in Charella Gardens.

The unidentified owner plans to build eight single residential dwellings, with a variety of housing forms, on the 44-hundred m² parcel of vacant land at 2980 Ellington Avenue.  L&M Engineering made the application on behalf of the BC numbered company.

In recommending Council approve the permit, staff noted the application meets the Official Community Plan’s priorities of infill development and diversifying the type of housing available in the city.

The variance reduced the side yard setback from 6m to 3m, but staff said the development has provided moe than the minimum requirements for useable open space – any space not covered by buildings or parking will be fully landscaped with grass and a strip of trees, grasses and shrubs will be planted along Ellington Avenue on the south side and Davis Road on the west frontage.

And each one will be as ugly as possible if this developer follows what other PG develops do. What about that new housing development along North Nechako Road, near the ball fields? What the goal to put up houses as ugly as possible and close together because if so, goal accomplished.
