Prince George, B.C. – Over 9,000 BC Hydro customers in Prince George are without power this hour.

“We have 9,400 customers out in the greater Prince George area,” says spokesperson Bob Gammer. “This is largely due to the sudden wind storm that came through here around midday. We have reports of trees on wires, lightning strikes and lightning striking power poles.”

He adds it’s too early to say when power might be restored.

“It’s so widespread I’m hearing we’ve got about 30 (work) orders for different power outages so it’s going to tale a while to coordinate the effort. The crews are out there, they are responding but it’s going to take a while.”
