At the risk of being brutal, if they didn’t get out of the water within a few minutes and find a way to dry out and warm up, there is no chance that they survived. If they were not located near the site of the incident, they didn’t make it. I’m sorry for them and for their family and friends, but in this kind of situation there is not much point to an extended search.
The search could be extended to recovery. Billposer would you not want that if your family?
In a case like this where what happened is pretty clear, I would not personally place a high value on recovery, but I recognize that there are people who do. But I don’t think false hope should be encouraged, and I don’t want search and rescue folks to take significant risks merely for a recovery.
At the risk of being More Brutal..billposer,, your comment is the rudest thing I have ever heard! Were you not taught that if you don’t have anything good to say don’t say anything at all.. Shame on YOU
I see nothing rude about it, nor did I say anything bad about anyone. Please explain yourself, MacOldtimer.
Did you happen to re read your post? Have you ever had someone go missing in a horrific accident? whether they were alive or not we families need the search to continue for us.. for our closure. and the rude part about your comment was ” in this kind of situation there is not much point to an extended search. There is a point!! these families lost 2 people. And I am not a person who takes offence at everything. I take Offence to comments like this because in one point and time in my life.. I depended on the extended search to find a family member. I can not thank the search teams enough for allowing our family to have closure.
There’s nothing rude that I can see. Oh wait I am not a person who just has to find offence at everything in the world. If I were to post my thoughts on this I bet you would be offended to the point of rolling up into a ball to cry, but only after you let me know I was rude and a bully.
My question is why were they on the ice at this time of year to begin with it is a tragedy that could of been easily avoided
The only thing I could think of would be the sensationalism of these stunts that people can see on YouTube. Red Bull and GoPro for instance have hundreds of videos online of people doing the extreme. Very sad to hear though.
Nothin wrong with what the person said its the truth.
Condolences to whps all involved and reminder to everyone that it can happen to you.
Crossing rivers on a snomobiles are dangerous no matter what time of the year it is. My condolences go out to the families of the missing.
