Power Outages Hit Prince George, Quesnel Areas

Prince George, B.C. – BC Hydro is reporting numerous power outages in the Prince George and Quesnel areas as the region experiences a storm packing high wind gusts, rain, hail, thunder and large dust clouds, especially in the bowl area.

The outages reported so far in the Prince George area include south of HWY 97, East of MASON RD and West of BANNOCK RD; the 10900 block of Lower Mud River Road; 8500 block of Angus Road; 3800 block Miworth Road.

There are numerous outages as well in the Hixon and Quesnel areas with trees down across hydro lines and other causes which are under investigation.

The total number of customers affected is not known, although the BC Hydro website indicates well over one thousand customers are without power.

The forecast for the Prince George area is for showers with a risk of thunderstorms, winds southerly at 30 km/h with gusts up to 70 km/h. There’s a risk of thunderstorms this evening, winds southwest 50 to 70 km/h then turning light later this evening. Low minus 5.
