Prince George, B.C. – There’s a whole lot of old-fashioned fun going on at the Kin arenas in Prince George this weekend.
A rec hockey tournament with players donning the jersey’s of the NHL’s original six teams is well underway.
“I was kind of just looking for a theme,” says tournament organizer Tim Clough. “This is the first tournament we’ve done here and I’ve been thinking of names for the teams and just thought we’d go with the original six.”

He says players were drafted Friday night at a local pub in preparation for the round robin format.
“The six teams play five games so it’s kind of a marathon weekend of hockey. It’s not just male players we have 10 to 12 women who’ve registered too.”
Clough says the championship will take place today at 3:30 p.m. at Kin 1 with proceeds above covering the costs of the event going to local Prince George kids in minor hockey next season.
“I think it’s going to be a great time, a lot of guys are excited about it. If it goes well we want to do it again in September.”
