Williams Lake, B.C. – A targeted shooting has claimed the life of a 20 year old man in Williams Lake.

North District Corporal Dave Tyreman says Williams Lake RCMP received a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue around 7:45 last night where shots may have been fired inside the house.

At around the same time, he says Mounties received information that a 20 year old man had been brought to local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.

Unfortunately, despite all efforts to save the man, Tyreman says he died in hospital.

He says police believe the incident to be both targeted and gang related.

Tyreman says the North District Major Crime unit along with the local Forensic Identification Team, the North District Regional General Investigations Section, the Williams Lake General Investigations Section and Police Dog Services have been called in to assist in the investigation.
