Road Rehab Projects Identified
Prince George, B.C.- The City of Prince George has released details on the roads that are scheduled for rehabilitation this year.
The list provided by the City indicates there are 45 projects, but there are two numbers missing (#38 and #39) . The missing numbers the result of incorrectly numbering all of the projects.
The most significant projects are:
- Foothills Blvd. from 5th Ave. to 1st Ave.
- Milwaukee Way from Boundary Rd. to Willow Cale Rd.
- 5th Avenue from Carney St. to Victoria St
The City is spending $7 million dollars on road upgrades this year, the same as was spent in 2015.
The paving season will start in May once hot asphalt is available.
The projects this year will see a total of 60 lane kilometers paved.
The City will also upgrade several sidewalks this season:
Remove and Replace:
- 15th Avenue, North Side from Liard Drive to Ingeneka Street
- 15th Avenue, North Side, from Ingeneka Street to Manson Crescent
- Renwick Street, North Side, from Edmonton Street to Melville Sgreet
- Westwood Drive, West Side from Tweedsmuir Avenue to Fairview Crescent
New Construction:
- Range Road West Side from Ospika Boulevard to Westwood Drive.
While the sidewalk on Baker Road had been planned for reconstruction, that item has been put over for future repairs to coincide with water main upgrades.

What someone must have screwed up, Bear-hwy16 finally being done. I’ll believe it when I see it. What about Marleau?
Marleau needs to be ripped out and redone, along with thet connecting frontage all the way to Bon Voyage. It wont be cheap. Better drainage, new subgrade, curb and gutter are all needed there. That was never a road meant for the traffic volume that it gets. Until it gets rebuilt, close it off. With the possibility of more developement along there, much more needs to be done with underground infrastructure before wasting money fixing it.
Key here is “dont hold your breath while waiting”.
Close it off! It’s a main access road to and from hwy 16 for residents in that area along with the Wal-Mart area.
Is there not an alternate route? O’Grady/ Domano to Hwy 16! Better that route than constantly hitting the same battered road, damaging your vehicle. I understand how bad that section of road is, but it did not make the City’s list for repaving this year. My road is no better! Since mine has gotten so rough, I take the alternate route and cause myself a whole 3 minutes more travel time. My vehicle’s suspension is thanking me. Keep hoping that next year it will be on the list. Our roads have vastly improved around town in the last 3 years. They cannot fix everything at once. Patience Seamutt. Meanwhile, if it were to get so bad as to close it off, it would get fixed sooner!
Ya missed one.. A short section but still falling apart. Gladstone from Simon Fraser to Hartford/Harvard in front of the school. The road is fine on each end of this section but this section is a mess.
Painted lines are needed on many roads. If I haven’t lived here for so long I’d be confused and slowing down to know where to go. And we all know how calm and understanding PG driver’s are. I got honked at the other day b/c I was driving too slow making a turn into an alley beside the RBC on Victoria St. Somebody honked at my spouse the other day, too. She thinks it was b/c she was driving too slow. I think the roads are pretty good around here but the lines need to be redone all over.
Have you been through South Fort George recently? Seems most every road down there needs reconstruction because of all the heaves.
By the way, better too slow than too fast.
Hot they hire someone that can paint straight this year. :-)
What is happening at Boundary Rd. and Hwy. 97 south? I see some curbs and street lighting is in. What is going in at the general area and who is paying for it. They have been moving earth from one area to another and then moving it elsewhere. This has been going on for several years now. Must be costing millions of dollars for some one. Is it a city development or private?
It’s private, but the city is helping subsidize that gong show via an agreement they made with the developer that sees him recoup all of the development cost charges that should have gone to the city.
only been about 300 stories the past few years on this site about the Boundary Road development, maybe a google search is in order?
Rude reply.
ampm:
One of the developments supposed to go ahead in the area of Boundary Road and Hwy. 97 is a big new building for
Inland Kenworth/Parker Pacific.
They sure have logged the crap out of that area lately, a lot of good logs must have made a few good bucks for someone.
metalman.
Nechako Dr. could have been done also. I bet its been 50 years.
Folks pay a lot in city taxes also in that area.
There is also a sink hole that really needs to be filled correctly on the back side of it.
Malaspina, awesome. Now the idiot with the piped Harley on Latrobe Cres that has absolutely no respect for the residents that live around him, can fly even faster up and down it. All the while being untouched by the lazy FN cops that do nothing about it.
Have pity on him, probably has male identity issues.
