Sunday, April 17, 2016 @ 6:45 AM
Quesnel, B.C. – Tomatoes are the focus of a new study involving CNC’s Quesnel campus and Edgewood Farm.
The study till try to answer a number of questions:
- what kind of tomatoes grow best in the north,
- do consumers prefer the taste of heirloom varieties over greenhouse hybrids
- do quality/yield rations differ between plants grown above ground in 7 gallon pots, or those in the ground in an unheated greenhouse
All plants will be grown without the use of chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers (seaweed and fish emulsion and organic slow-release fertilizers only).
The project will start in May and run through to September.
