TPP Supports Jobs in the North say BC Liberals

However, the text of the TPP outlines a large number of specific trades that could come to Canada under a category called “professionals and technicians,” including electrical trades and “other construction trades.”

That section states that “Canada shall grant temporary entry and provide a work permit or work authorization to Professionals and Technicians and will not: (a) require labour certification tests or other procedures of similar intent as a condition for temporary entry; or (b) impose or maintain any numerical restriction relating to temporary entry.”

TPP text raises concerns over regulation of temporary foreign workers

“The report admits that “offshoring” by manufacturers may have played a role, meaning of course that Western multinationals have been able to play off workers at home against cheap labour in China, emerging Asia, or Eastern Europe. This game is limited only by cost of shipping goods, or by worries about the rule of law. It is why the profit share of GDP has been rising relentlessly. The owners of capital have never had it so good.”

Let the TTIP trade pact die if it threatens Parliamentary democracy

    ht tp://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/05/04/let-the-ttip-trade-pact-die-if-it-threatens-parliamentary-democr/

A report commissioned by the British government reveals that major U.S. corporates have sued the Canadian government for billions of dollars under a clause of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Despite this, U.S. President Barack Obama told a press conference in Germany this weekend (above) that “none of these [corporate law suits] had happened with the many trade agreements that currently exist”.

The investor state clauses and the intellectual rights clauses will be the end of national democracies and the return of feudalism. It’s globalist a using their financial power to captivate societies with corporate supremacy in international law. Traitors all of them that support this madness. Hopefully Trump puts a stop to this madness by our political parties and their elected minions.

At least Trump has said he will deal with off shoring and will look into trade deals if elected. Though trade deals may not bode well for Canada. What is our dear leader doing, nothing just photo ops.

Not sure if it’s because of the lack of sani stations… But twice this week I drove behind an RV going through PG with the sani drain open. One guy flushed going by Canadian Tire approaching Domano in bumper to bumper traffic with fluids all over the hoods of the cars immediately behind.

How is flushing ones toilet onto the road while in motion any different then just spraying it on random hoods with a water gun or worse. I think it should be a public health crime.

Eagleone At the most (if you are not making this up although I believe you are) it may have been a cap left dangling and supposing full tanks perhaps some drippage, likely not.

Please explain fully about the so called “flushing” We could all use some humour today.

Flushing… meaning a large burst of watery substance comes out the bottom of the RV as it moves through traffic. Call it what you will… but its just damn disgusting and uncalled for IMO.

Not sure how an RV is flushed going down the highway considering the valves are on the outside. Eagleone me thinks you are telling stories. Oh now if was possible to flush going down the highway, why when the RV would also get covering with sh.t.

    I’ll play along.

You seemed to have a good vantage point. Could you tell if the black or grey water valve had been left open along with the cap or was it just the cap?

Approximately how much fluid would you say you saw leaking?

It could be overfilled potable water too.

Enough to think someone just flushed the can. Why only one burst and then its done? Some people really couldn’t give a crap if it hits the street or not I assume.

Guess that answers the question of why big rigs are flopping over like narcoleptic goats lately, the drivers are using their windshield time looking for dangling crap caps on RVs instead of say a vehicle turning or an orange light:P

I can see E1 being fixated on the ultimate destination of toilet contents after failing to do proper dd when buying a house and finding after it was not connected to city sewer- took a big hit on resale. opps

You and your accusatory innuendo… thinking it makes you sound so smart…. Sparrow is just like a stalker that has it all wrong, but so obsessed that he begins to believe in his own delusions. You really lack any credibility Sparrow, and you come across as a creepy peep.

Guess that answers the question of what a dick weed does for entertainment when his viagra runs out and all he’s got is his government job and a blog post to get off on.

On Foothills yesterday I noticed while following behind several vehicles that at least 3 drivers tossing lit cigarettes out of their car windows and one of the cigarettes bounced to the shoulder apparently smokers really don’t care if they cause a fire or not even with all the information available to them glad to see they are so caring of the wildfire situation that it poses

I noticed the same thing night before last. A guy in a Black Toyota minivan threw his cig out the window, then it got ran over by the car behind him and hot sparks go flying. Some made it off the shoulder of the road.
After all the fires so far AND the catastrophe in Ft Mac, there are people out there that either dont understand/ dont care about the potential of causing a fire.
I dont care if you smoke, but be responsible and use an ashtray.
In the near future I will get a dashcam, if the footage of these idiots is good enough then maybe the cops can deal with them.
Reckless/over aggressive drivers, tossed smokes, trash blowing out of/ or being tossed out of vehicles..I see it almost every day. Absolutely no valid excuse for it.

Please increase the penalties for people who toss cigarette butts. Our forests are in big trouble by bugs and wildfires and people need to be held accountable for their careless attitude’s. Plus- tossing cigarette butts is just another form of pollution.

    “apparently smokers really don’t care”

Really? Don’t you mean some smokers that are idiots?

I thought all smokers were idiots .

On the last car we bought an ashtray was a option for something like 15 or 20 bucks, a little can with a top that fits in one of the cup holders. Never got it as no one in the family smokes.

Still no excuse for someone flinging a butt out the window, if their vehicle is not equipped a trip to the dollar store should fix that.

I am an avid cyclist. Both road and mountain bike. I do my best to ensure that I follow the rules of the road and to not slow traffic down.

I’d like to remind the drivers: Under the Motor Vehicle Act I have a legal right to ride on the road. There does not have to be a bike lane.

I’d like to remind the cyclists: Under the Motor Vehicle Act you must follow the traffic laws.

I’d really like it if everyone would look up the MVA for themselves so they can understand what a cyclist is allowed to do and not allowed to do. Cyclists have the same rights as a motor vehicle. But with that there is responsibility. Then there are the bike lanes….please cyclists….use them. Use them if they are clear and under good repair….I know there are sections of Foothills for example that cannot be ridden. When this is the case please ride as close to the bike lane….not 2 feet into the traffic.

Drivers: please if you can give a cyclist some space. If there is no oncoming traffic please move over a bit. If there is another lane of your direction of travel please move into it if you can to pass a road cyclist.

Thanks

Drivers in this town have an average IQ of about 20. That and their over bloated sense of entitlement means your life’s in danger when you get on your bike.

That’s a good Friday funny, bicyclists following the rules.

Considering the legal speed limit is exceeded by 99% of drivers, 99% of drivers do not come to a complete stop, the obvious wearing out of centre lines on curves means many drivers do not stay on their side of the road, a little bit of a pot calling the kettle black.

I’m like cyclesafe, I try to follow the rules where applicable, but frankly, if I don’t feel safe, I’ll ride where I do feel safe, even if it’s the sidewalk.

But cyclesafe and I are the minority. Even the PG Cycling Club sanctioned group ride, every Tuesday take to the roads and ride tandem instead of single file. This makes it difficult for cars to pass them.

MVA 183 (2) (d) (d) must not ride abreast of another person operating a cycle on the roadway,

So seamutt, I begrudgingly agree with you. The big difference, is when a car screws up, they usually walk away. So for self preservation, cyclists should learn the rules. And hey, you have an advantage to. Wanna cross the road, get off the bike at a crosswalk and cars HAVE to stop.

      Same goes for motorists.

      Hi seamutt,

Would you like to come for a ride with me? I’ll demonstrate how I follow the rules of the road. I would say though that I too am human and sometimes I do make mistakes…..just like when I am driving.

      Let me know.

      ski51,

In response to the PG sanctioned rides….that’s why I ride alone. If you want to socialise do it after riding. Ride when you are riding.
      ;-)

    Well said cyclesafe.

      Thank you

Well cyclesafe there then seems to be a lot of cyclists making mistakes.

I just have never been able to figure how runners and cyclists seem to think they are special and entitled?

      Hi seamutt,
I’m sorry that you feel that way and if you hadn’t noticed I’m asking the cyclists to do their part as well. I’m taking ownership seamutt…ownership that I do make mistakes. I am not responsible for the actions of other cyclists nor drivers. I don’t feel special or entitled….I just want to ride my bike because when I reach my cycling goals I feel better and I’m happier.

I guess what I’m really asking for is the same respect that you would give a car or a truck.

      Thanks for your time.

G20 leadership plans on spending $510 trillion to avert a threat that doesn’t exist.

They are still driving and working the *Smart* phone at the same time! Yesterday just past the Superstore, middle aged female driving a domestic make SUV! Congratulations on being such a slave to your addiction that you are risking your own life and the life of others!

United Technologies Corporation / Carrier has offered $5.85 per hour to a workers union if they want to keep 1,400 jobs from leaving Indianapolis, Indiana instead of being sent to Monterrey, Mexico. The company knows their wage offer to the Union is “illegal” in the United States, but that is what is needed to match the lower labour costs the Corporation will be getting in Mexico.

And so we see the rights, and standard of living, for common workers in the US and Canada continue to free-fall down to third world country standards. This is happening everywhere, including here in Prince George, where Glacier Media (PG Citizen) shipped their advertising department jobs to India and the Philippines.

www .theindychannel.com/news/local-news/call-6-carrier-said-it-might-stay-if-workers-cut-their-pay-to-585-an-hour

“And so we see the rights, and standard of living, for common workers in the US and Canada continue to free-fall down to third world country standards.”

Soon a breaking point will be reached! The cost of living goes up and up and taxes and fees charged by all three levels of our governments are increasing without fail year after year! Top heavy governments at all three levels are mercilessly demanding the benefits and salaries that they have grown accustomed to as if they were a divine right!

Ask the Greeks, they are still on the hook for the sins of their past governments!

Sad part for the Greeks is they sold their sovereignty and their country to the European bankers for their bailout and yet only $5 billion out of the $200 billion in bailout money went to the actual state… all the rest went to bailing out the European bankers… for which Greece lost two generations financially and probably more once the bill comes due for the $200 billion dollar bailout.

The EU screwed Greece over big time. It was a classic case of corpocracy sweeping aside the last vestiges of democracy. Hopefully the British have the stones in them to cast away the EU in their Brexit vote next month… leading the way against the NWO and paving the way for Trump to finish off the global bankster elites and their dreams of a a global corpocracy.

    Wait until Trump becomes President.

Actually Trump will go after companies outsourcing jobs and will be looking into all the trade deals. At least he will do something not like our dear leader.

The trade deal evaluation may not bode well for Canada though.

cyclesafe—You make a good point. You see it all the time. Some people are just not smart enough to give the rider some space.

Thanks oldman1 but I’d like to say that I don’t feel it’s a matter of intelligence or “smarts” per se. I feel it’s a lack of understanding. Of course there will always be the people who like to rip past me and give me a blast of the mixture of toxics from their exhaust but usually those are the types that have some sort of deep personal issues that only professional counseling will help with.

I feel that the majority of drivers now just haven’t spend the amount of time on a bike that some of us “older” people have. Just like when I’m riding I try my best to put myself in the mindset of the drivers, when I’m driving I try to put myself in the mindset of the cyclist that I am passing….

Groups of people….any group of people will have the rule followers and the rule breakers and the rule benders. All I’m asking for is just a little respect in terms of when one is operating a motor vehicle (that can be potentially dangerous) one does it with caution, understanding, and respect….and I ask the same of the cyclists.

Ft. McMurray, some see the silver lining that most of these losses are insured. Well, you might be surprised to learn there isn’t a 10 billion dollar vault of money somewhere. Insurance companies reserves are invested. So expect to see some stock prices drop, bond prices drop, credit tightened, as 10 billion is shifted from where it would have before, to rebuild Ft. Mac. And, insurance companies never lose money. Expect all our premiums to increase.

Now, why is it, that 10 billion can be found to rebuild a town after it burns, but we can’t find a few hundred million to fire proof towns before they burn?

If there ever was an infrastructure job that would put people to work, it would be that one.

You might also be surprised that the inflated prices may not stand up anymore when it comes to insurance adjusters. The houses which were at least double if not triple the cost to a similar one in PG were no longer moving at those prices. Real estate pages showing say 10 houses on them would have half of the with a large “reduced” put over them before the fire. Insurance companies may start challenging the assessed values and go by recent sales prior to the fire. Of course, given the job situation before the fire, sales were likely not very brisk.

I suspect that areas like Bacon Hill, which appears to have been the hardest hit so far, may simply not rebuilt.

Too early to tell. This is still a time to deal with housing the people who have lost their homes, whether owned or rented. I suspect that those who did not have a job or one with some certainty of continuing. will leave the community to move to another part of Canada.

Actually insurance will pay the physical cost of actual house replacement, inflated market cost has nothing to do with it.

Sure there is a multi billion dollar pot of money to pay the claims—the higher premiems that everyone will pay next year and the one after that etc.

By law Canadian insurance companies have to have a certain level of cash or liquid assets on hand. In extremely large claims they are given time to rebuild it before having to take more serious measures such as selling assets.
They also reinsure their book with other brokers to lessen their direct exposure to a massive payout. As our insurance agent deals with muliple companies I will be asking for quotes from them all next year, did this a couple of years ago and saved a hundred bucks by switching to a company that was not building it’s reserve.

Why do the Jewish always talk like being Jewish is a race and not a religion? Believe what you want..but it’s a religion.

Their religion is called Judaism. There are many Jewish people who to not practice Judaism. But they are still Jews or Jewish.

Just like there are a lot of Christians who don’t practice their religion and consider themselves Catholic.. But it Not a race.. If anyone can join its not a race.

Why do you care? You and I could convert to Judaism and we would then become Jews. Questions of race are irrelevant and Jews I know don’t talk of race . . . because it’s irrelevant.

I think it is very relevant whether Judaism is a race or not, which it is clearly not a race. Although for Israel their central claim to the land of the bible is based on Judaism being a race and their being the lost children returning to the mothers embrace. So for people that steal other peoples land it is a very relevant issue.

Metis seem to consider themselves a race?

      Do they?

Métis and non-status Indigenous people were not included under the Indian Act until the recent unanimous Supreme Court of Canada ruling that the Federal Government has jurisdiction over ALL indigenous people.

Specifically, the court held that non-status Indians and Métis are considered “Indians” under Section 91(24) of the 1867 Constitutional Act.

The age old question, is it a breath meant or is it a candy mint?

Luckily (or maybe unluckily), we now have the ability to use DNA to trace ancestry.

According to Harry Ostrer, Jewish Professor of Genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine he has “developed systematic ways to separate Jews from non-Jews.”

He shows that geographically and culturally distant Jews still have more genes in common than they do with non-Jews around them, and that those genes can be traced back to the Levant, an area including modern-day Israel.

Shlomo Sand, a professor at Tel Aviv University said that regarding Ostrer’s findings “Hitler would certainly have been very pleased.”

It would seem to me that when one looks at a population which is relatively small with little movement into that group from the outside, there would be the tendency for the gene pool to be relatively uniform.

The question really boils down to what is a race. I understand that like a lot of things, the definition is a moving target. Not only that, but how science identifies race and how society identifies race are two separate approaches.

    So, discuss on.

BTW, the reason why people like Harry Ostrer are taking the approach he is is because he is interested in identifying health risks which are genetically based.

John Hopkin’s geneticist Eran Israeli-Elhaik recently did a DNA study of Israeli Jews and confirmed that by and large 95% of Israeli’s can trace their linage to the Kazarian stock of people that historically lived north of the Black Sea in the area of Crimea and present day Donesk in Eastern Ukraine.

The Kazarian Empire was a world power in the 9th century and adopted Judaism as they were confront by the Christians to their west; and Muslims to their south; and thought of it strategic to inoculate their own people against these religions, and thus remain independent of them, by adopting Judaism as a religion that could be used for cult purposes to unite their people in loyalty through faith.

The Kazarians were famous in the time period for robbing travelers of the silk road, and assuming their identities. It was a war like people that used deception as their main weapon of war… as was well documented in their exchanges with the Eastern Roman Empire and their betrayal of its trust in them.

The Eastern Roman Empire fell in part because of a betrayal through marriage that was meant to unite the Kazarians with the power of Constantinople. The Rus empire that was the ‘new Roman Empire’ (in their minds) having adopted the religion of Constantinople finally had enough of their perfidious nature and crushed the Kazarian Empire sending its people fleeing in every which direction like a moving wave of a closed society hiding their true nature adopting the outward appearance of communities they took refuge in, but always staying loyal to their ‘Jewish roots’.

The Kazarian Jews never forgave the Rus Empire for destroying their own, and it took nearly a millennium, but eventually got their revenge against the Russian people in 1917 with the bolshivik revolution that killed 60 million Russians and outlawed the Eastern Christianity destroying all their churches and making it illegal to practice Christianity.

No doubt the bolshivik revolution and its outcome in places like Ukraine incited the likes of hitler and lead to WW2. Ironically hilter played right into their hands and did the dirty work killing off all the none Kazarian cultist Jews that were religious in nature and derided the nazi’s evil superior race twin of zionism. Prominent zionists in the founding of Israel even played a part in tricking the ‘non-believers’ into going to the gas chamber without resistance. Complete betrayal of their own people for a political idea.

Today 90% of Israeli Jews are of Kazarian descendant. Only about 5% of Israeli’s are Shephardic, which has true Semetic ancestry and in actual fact shares more genes with the Palestinians than they do with their Kazarian overlords.

Why do the Jewish always talk like being Jewish is a race and not a religion? Because it is both. Jews are a specific ethnicity originating in the mid-east who diverged from other peoples there thousands of years ago when their religion was founded. People who hate Jews don’t care if they still practice the faith, they hate them for their ethnicity.

Things change. Language changes. The use of terms such as “race” changes.

In my opinion, for those who are interested in the topic, the Encyclopedia Britannica has a good overview of the various positions on the use of the term “race” these days.

      britannica.com/topic/race-human

Obviously it is a contentious issue. Why it remains so I really do not know. I guess old habits are hard to get rid of.

Could be, in some instances. But perhaps what’s really detested is the philosophy underlying Judaism? Does the Christian religion have anything in it like the Talmud, where it describes how the Jews are to treat non-Jews,”….like cattle”?

That is the biggest load of uninformed crap I’ve read in a long time Dirtman. Most people that hate a Jew don’t hate them because of their religion or their so called race… most people hate people that use deceit as a way to gain power and privilege over other people, and those that practice that kind of lifestyle.

That is what zionism is all about, and so long as Jews allow themselves to be associated with zionism they get tarred with the same brush. Its no different than someone that affiliates with nazism… we would automatically assume that they are some kind of white supremacist, which they probably are.

Zionism is all about war through deceit and even have it as the official motto of mossad. They practice what they preach and for that they deserve derision from anyone that respects the dignity of man.

Its why I think Bernie Sanders is such a great person. He breaks that link with zionism and the land thieving aspect of Israel based on deceit. In doing so he shows through example that not all Jews are zionist and that there is a better way for other Jews that allows them to become a contributing member of humanity rather than an enabler of a political philosophy that is racist in nature. Its why Sanders has such a huge support among none Jewish Americans and may one day become the first Jewish President (Probably not though because I think Trump has that spot taken already).

Most of the Old Testament is detestable. There is nothing good that comes out of the Old Testament other than the founding of the idea of one god. Most of the Old Testament would be considered hate speach by today’s standards. The Talmud is even worse because it is not even a book of god, but rather one of man and mans interpretation of gods will where the means justify the ends, which is blasphemy to assume one can speak on behalf of god for personal gain.

Myself I see the New Testament as Jesus way of correcting the path of believers through parables that give insight into examples of living a good life in peace and dignity with fellow man. To each their own to interpret what is said through the parables and stories inspired by Jesus, and that is the genius of its growth into the most influential book ever written by man.

Eagleone, you are detestable! It’s people like you that made the Nazi death camps possible. You disgust me.

One of the big winners in the Fort Mac fire ? T.osb .

Last month the USA installed it’s one millionth solar power system . 100k utility grade 900k residential installs . This month tesla model 3 reservations crossed the 400,000 preorder . Almost half are going to China . Many saying that the biohazard filtration system being the desired feature . Elon tweeted this week ” order now if you want one in 2018 ” . Just because we a stuck in the 80s doesn’t mean it’s not happening .

So Ataloss did you order one? How is your imaginary solar system working out. Hate to have had a battery powered car trying to bail out of Ft. Mac.

That Tesla 3 might have to wait a few years if you ordered one and they are not even in production yet. Has Tesla made a profit yet?

Major energy sources and percent share of total U.S. electricity generation in 2015:1
    • Coal = 33%
    • Natural gas = 33%
    • Nuclear = 20%
    • Hydropower = 6%
    • Other renewables = 7% • Biomass = 1.6%
    • Geothermal = 0.4%
    • Solar = 0.6%
    • Wind = 4.7%

    • Petroleum = 1%
    • Other gases = <1%

Solar power a whopping .04 percent and that is installed capacity not what is actually supplying power.

Whoops sorry make that .6% huge mistake, again sorry.

“Hate to have had a battery powered car trying to bail out of Ft. Mac.”

According to the radio many people with (the beneficial CO2 coming out of their vehicles’ tailpipes) couldn’t bail out as the gasoline stations had no gasoline or they were actually on fire!

PG much easier to fuel up a gasser than a golf cart.

Funny how just a little sliver of the different drives the status quo so crazy . How insecure must the wrong side be to fear the minority .

Interesting, thumbs down on the facts. Some people just can’t handle reality, hey Ataloss.

A single mine produces about 50 percent more energy on an average day than all the country’s solar panels and wind turbines combined. The mine covers just 80 square miles, while domestic wind projects now cover about 9,400 square miles—an area approximately the size of Maryland.

Germany has been paying over $26 billion per year for electricity that has a wholesale market value of just $5 billion

Only government would think this is a good idea. Oh, and people who are blinded by ideology that trumps common sense.

      What kind of mine?

If renewable energy is cheaper than dirty fossil fuels, why isn’t everyone adopting them? Are we so irrationally addicted to polluting energy sources that we won’t even embrace cheaper and cleaner alternatives?

Well, as you might have guessed, it turns out that wind and solar energy isn’t cheaper than fossil fuels in the real world. Quite the opposite.

A new report from the same Bloomberg now warns that if subsidies are phased out by 2020 in the U.K, the renewable industry will dry up and drop off a cliff. But if they’re already cheaper now, why on earth would it matter if we stop paying even more for wind after 2020?

      Coal mine.

The Obama administration is revising a federal rule that allows wind-energy companies to operate high-speed turbines for up to 30 years, even if means killing or injuring thousands of federally protected bald and golden eagles.

Under the plan announced Wednesday, companies could kill or injure up to 4,200 bald eagles a year without penalty —nearly four times the current limit. Golden eagles could only be killed if companies take steps to minimize the losses, for instance, by retrofitting power poles to reduce the risk of electrocution.

“There’s a lot of good news in here,” Ashe said in an interview, calling the plan “a great tool to work with to further conservation of two iconic species.”

Bit of a disconnect from reality there….

Thumbs down to Obama, amazing. Thought is was revered as a god. hey its the facts, check the link.

Why do I care about the Jewish people always talking about their religion like its a race.. Cus I can, and I do.. And it’s Friday free for all… 6 million Jews murdered at the concentration camps is horrible, just as horrible as the 6 million others murdered there as well.. But you rarely hear about the other 6 million when people talk about the concentration camps.. And why is that?

P Val,Because they were the largest group just targeted for their religion and still targeted by people like you.

That’s not true seamutt, because the bolsheviks killed 65 million Russians trying to stamp out their Eastern Orthodox religion destroying all the churches and killing all the clergy and its members. So the bolshivik revolution is responsible for ten times as many killings in the name of snuffing out a religion.

The Roma, Gypsy, Poles, Russians and others that went through the concentration camps died and suffered the same fate as the Jews, but they just never had the power to institutionalize the experience and make it their own to continue traumatizing their peoples into politically correct acceptance of their fate as dependents of the political elite that are there to ‘protect’ Jews from it ever happening again.

The stories of the concentration camps are a political propaganda gold mine for the zionist movement; and zionism will use it to their advantage every opportunity they can get because every other argument for legitimacy they have falls flat.

Where do you live? I am asking because I live in PG and I cannot listen to any Jewish people talking here because there are so few.

Those few I know, really never talked the way you describe it.

Denmark Slashes Wind Power Subsidies to Curb Runaway Power Costs

When the wind industry and its worshippers start chanting their mantras about the ‘wonders’ of wind, it isn’t long before they start preaching about the examples purportedly set by the Europeans; and, in particular, the Nordic nations.

That the great wind power fraud was driven by Denmark’s struggling turbine maker, Vestas probably has a fair bit to do with the worshippers’ fanatic-cult-like veneration of Scandinavia.

But, hold the phone?

It seems that economics works in precisely the same fashion in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway, as just about everywhere else (save Cuba and North Korea, say?).

When you’re trying to sell a ‘product’ with NO commercial value, the ‘business’ – for want of a better word – can only be about what you can extract from gullible/compliant governments (and unwitting power consumers), in the form of massive and endless subsidies.

Now, in the wind industry’s heartland, the Danes too have rumbled the fact that the wind really isn’t ‘free’, as the wind cult claims. Oh no.

Worshipping the Wind Gods comes at a staggering cost, as Danish households and businesses have fast come to realise.

From a fossil fuel fuelled hater site . For the most part bs . Specially the numbers . German electricity prices have been steadily falling since 2011 and Angela is committed to dropping them even more . Both China , Germany and soon to join the 40 giga watt club from photovoltaics the USA . That’s 120 giga watts and growing exponentially. Instead of crying about the changes happening . You guys should be happy that the renewables driving down fossils down in price .

Fossil fuel fuelled hater site? When you sling ad hominems like that as a substitute for rational argument, it gives the impression that you consider your position to be weak.

As for Angela, she was asking for exemptions a couple years ago because the high cost of German electricity was making their industry non-competitive. And she’s also committed to eliminating subsidies to “green” energy by 2018. Imagine what that will do to electricity prices.

Renewable power is always as “cheap as coal” except when subsidies are slashed, then it’s “the end”, “terrible”, and “fragile”.

If only renewable power could actually compete with coal.

Greenclick tells us the UK solar industry is “reeling” in “shock and anger” as the UK conservative government cuts the renewables feed-in tariff there by as much as 86%. Even for the hydro industry (about the only renewable industry that can survive on its own), the news could spell the “end”.

      […]

The ugly truth — British families won’t want solar:

I did t target anyone…just asked a question..

I don’t hate any religion.. I may hate a few people But has nothing to do with their religion or lack there of.

I have dated a Jewish lady for a few years, lovely lady btw, her faith was part of who she is, but not everything she is…. I did get a better under standing of the Jewish faith though.

Folks when you buy a new car, did you know that taxes are paid on the rebate even though its money not spent! CRA-government making off like bandits.

Seamutt, did you know the government is running billions of dollar deficits and is billions in debt, and if they don’t get it off new car buyers, they’ll get it somewhere else.

Did you also know the government doesn’t tax half of capital gains? Why is that? Who has capital gains other than wealthy people, so why give them a tax break? Imagine, half of income not taxed, rich people are making off like bandits.

ski51, I think that you are wrong regarding the taxation of capital gains. Taxable capital gains are taxed at a preferred rates to encourage investment in companies. Investing in companies, instead of simply putting your savings in an interest earning deposit at a bank helps provide companies with capital, capital that can be used for expansion which may also stimulate more hiring!

You ask “who has capital gains other than wealthy people?” to which I answer every one of us who holds non-registered investments such as mutual funds that invest in stocks!

I’ve really enjoyed the preferred tax status of my non-registered investments. I’m not wealthy but I am doing fine! You should invest in some and then you too can reap the benefits, just like the wealthy people do! ;-)

Sorry, I was being facetious. Government has a whole smorgasbord of carrots and sticks when it comes to taxation, which is why the Income Tax Act is an incomprehensible piece of legislation. It’s a document designed to transfer wealth all over the place, and fortunately it’s complexity helps me make a living.

Where I’m going is at the end of the day the government is going to get cash, and you can cry all you want about how they do it, but they will do it. If you succeed in getting them to stop taxing rebates, then they’ll just tax something else.

My point was paying taxes on money not spent.

Want to talk about the rich or well off. Why are there rebates for electric cars and so called renewable energy. Those that can afford these things do not need a rebate and if these things are so great they should be able to sell with out the rebate. Let the market decide.

A great many of us are far from being ‘rich people’ but still occasionally have ‘capital gains’. (And, sometimes, ‘capital losses’, too.) As I understand it, which may not be correct, (I’m NOT an accountant), the half that is taxed is added to the current year’s other income. And if it were a ‘rich person’s’ income, wouldn’t he be paying a far greater percentage in Income tax on that income if it were over various levels than any ‘non-rich person’ would?

SCAM Alert.
Just had a East Indian Speaking Male call me telling me He was from “Windows” and My computer was causing problems for other computers, when I told him I did not believe him and that Windows does not call people and hung up on him he called me again and told he he was going to F my Mom so I hung up again and he phoned back again and said he was going to F up my wife so I hung up and then he phoned again and I told him my mother was died and I did not have a wife he said he would F me up so I asked him if he wanted my address to come over and I hung up- so far no call back. here are the 3 phone numbers he used.780-378-0000 and 780-388-0400 and 780-358-0600 . 780 is Northern Alberta, north of Lacombe. NOT a very nice person if I can call him that.

Average price per KWH in Germany in 2016 is 28.81 cent, so lets stop all the talk about how fantastic the Solar and Wind Power works over in Germany , nice to visit but that’s about it , expencive Place and all the Refugees will find it out soon!

I leave it to Germany to decide how it is going to further green its economy and meet the reduction in carbon emissions that it agreed to undertake!

I also would be interested to find out from those who heap criticism on Germany to explain to me what the Canadian government’s policies and actions should be in regards to reducing carbon emissions and meeting the targets that it is bound to achieve as per the agreements it signed!

Let’s have it! Doing the NOTHING routine won’t be enough this time!

Doing NOTHING is the only sane thing to do. The Paris agreement that Trudeau was so eager to sign only requires developed western capitalist economies to cut emissions, “developing” nations are exempt, they get to emit as much as they can or want to.

A peer reviewed paper revealed that the temperature impact of the Paris agreement is minimal. Although it was sold as the summit that can “heal the planet” and “save the world from climate change” it’s no such thing. If all nations keep all their promises, temperature increase will be cut by just 0.05°C. Even if every government on the planet not only keeps every Paris promise, reduces all emissions by 2030, and shifts no emissions to other countries, but also keeps these emission reductions throughout the rest of the century, temperature rise will be reduced by just 0.17°C by the year 2100, and that’s assuming that the IPCC hypothesis of dangerous global warming is correct! (But of course, we know it isn’t.)

What are the chances that the nations of the world actually will keep their commitments? Slim to none. This is the kind of agreement that gives incentive to cheat, partly because it will be easy and profitable to do so and thus most nations will suspect that others are cheating. China has recently been found to release nearly a billion more tons of CO2 annually than they report. “Developing” nations (and that includes China, by far the biggest emitter in the world with the fastest increasing rate of emissions) have an opt-out clause so they don’t even have to cheat, they just invoke the clause and laugh at gullible people like us. That agreement is nothing more than a wealth transfer away from the successful capitalist countries.

Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Watson has a $100,000 wager on offer. He’s willing to bet that emissions will be higher in 2030 than now. Care to take him up on it?

That goof and his spawn that ripped off the girl guide camp etc have been named over at the other local news site. Goof Sr was working over in the tar sands. I guess oodles of cash for work wasn’t good enough for him. Must have spent it all on Crystal Meth.

Just found out from reading a letter to the paper that Canada is a colony! Wow!

well its Friday Free for All and I notice many topics have been covered by our knowledgeable contributors.

First off I cycled in PG for many years before cycle lane became a reality. I also had a number of flats by tacks and stuff that had been blown over to the shoulder by vehicle traffic.

One of the rules that has not changed and that is a cycles has the same rules to guide him/her as an automobile as has already been mentioned.

When making a left hand turn I would get into the left hand turn slot and never ever had a honk that I was being aggressive. Why would one go to the sidewalk and make a pedestrian crossing.

Well that’s all for today. Lovely day in Abby. Don’t forget about Mother on Sunday. Get out the barbie and celebrate. Have a glass of wine and invite your Jewish neighbour I guss it would have to be fish and I think chicken is also kosher food.
Cheers

Out of curiosity, how long ago was that. Did you have to ride among motorists with one eye on the text message, and the other on their Tim Horton’s coffee. Sure, get in the left lane, and hope the car behind you actually sees you. They manage to hit motorcycles, a bicycle isn’t a stretch. Not sure it’s the same as when you rode here. In Abby you have lots of great bike lanes. Here, we have some, but not like you.

hey retired just spent last weekend in Abby and Chilliwack the stink from all the BS spread on the fields made my eyes water. Then the traffic, why would anyone live down there.

R02, we are having a nice day too! Gefilte fish. Lox and Challah bread are a good idea as well!

A parting comment: As for usual wind and solar versus coal and natural gas aficionados…in Oklahoma they had very few moderate earthquakes (20 in 2009) the last count for 2015 is 820! Yes, 802! They are moderate but can be felt and scare a lot of people! Experts say that it is caused by the fossil fuel industry, oil and fracking for gas!

So, do we get used to the rumbling below our feet or do we opt for solar, wind power and tidal, perhaps geothermal energy?

Solar, wind and tidal are hugely expensive and require baseload back-up power generation. I wonder, what could we use for the back-up? Oh yeah, fossil fuels!

PG what is wrong with C02, plants love it?

Did you know Germany is building coal supplied plants, and import coal sourced power, wow. Would you like to pay their power rates.

Did you know that 30 or so years ago Germany had a 600 year supply of brown coal?

Did you know that medieval towns are built on the brown coal deposit and that to get at the surface mined coal, they rebuild the old towns on excavated brown coal fields, make lakes where there were none and hills some 100 metres high and create park land from that? Then they demolish the old towns and work the surface mines …. its is interesting to watch flying over the area.

These days it can be seen on Google Earth.

Does that mean the worlds finest produce is grown in Beijing ?

Germany is decommissioning nuclear plants. In the meantime it is relying on coal to keep its industry (without which the country would crash into abject poverty) humming along. Now it is in the planning stage to gradually diminish its reliance on coal. It will take years.

“PG what is wrong with C02, plants love it?”

Do I care what plants love or hate? I am a human being and the GHG effect of the last century’s man made burning of fossil fuels is more than what plants, oceans and lakes can absorb! Hence, global warming, melting of glaciers, crop failures, spread of invasive organisms, …well, I do not have to explain it to you! You already know all the consequences. Being more concerned with what plants love than the welfare of human beings makes zero sense!

Didn’t seamutt tell us an ice age is coming ?

Um, without plants you die, science is not your best subject is it?

So PG what do you think of the medieval warm period, the Roman warm period or would rather have lived in the little ice age. Do you know anything about the Holocene maximum, much warmer than now. Hey how did the elephants get over the alps, no or few glaciers then, reformed during the LIA.

Co2 if it has any effect on climate well its above the saturation level to have any more effect. This global CAGW scam is now a 1.5 trillion dollar a year industry. Now just think about that, lots of money to be made.

PG I was out to the drags tonight, you would have pooped seeing the clouds of black smoke from the oil burners, great fun.

About Germany industry is leaving in droves because of the high energy prices. Maybe you should petition the government to have the option of only buying so called inefficient undependable so called renewable power. Enjoy the cost.

Actually Digitus Impudicus we live in an ice age with short interglacials. Been like that for about 3 million years now, try to catch up on facts.

Oh yes we have entered a cooling period using information from past climatic history. In a couple of years you will see a definite cooling trend and quite chilly by 2030 which should make you warmers quite ecstatic I am sure.

Wow. Are you really that ignorant about global warming?

Plants love more CO2, thus the greening of the planet and bigger crop yields that feed human beings better. You should love the idea of more atmospheric CO2!

Global warming – a good thing. Previous warmings like the Medieval Climate Optimum (which was considerably warmer than now) were great for us. Mankind made its greatest advances during the warmings, partly because there was more food available which freed more people to do other pursuits. Populations increase during warmings, die down during coolings.

Melting glaciers – what’s wrong with that? Some of those melting glaciers are exposing evidence of human activity high up on mountains, activity that was stopped by advancing glaciers at the end of the last warming. Some melting glaciers are uncovering the remnants of old growth forests that flourished there 6000 years ago.

Crop failures? Catastrophic crop failures are a feature of past coolings and are a major cause of the population die-offs that occurred during them. A warmer world is a more productive world.

You really need to do some research.

Hey seamut is that all you know about Abbotsford. I believe you have never been to here. Its a great place to live and it would also teach you some respect for the opinion of others. Your pen name tells me a lot about you. Your just a Bush Bunny.
Cheers

If you’re going to insult someone, at least use proper grammar.

Used to live in Poco and know the whole valley quite well, that is why I bailed. Name calling I guess hit a nerve about the stink. Oh I stop in at Costco to fuel my big gas burner before the higher taxes further west.

Bush bunny well matter of fact I enjoy the bush and spend quite a bit of time in it. Up hwy 37 and Yukon is my favourite.
