Prince George, B.C. – Northerners have come through to help out Fort McMurray residents displaced by a menacing wildfire in their community.

“In two days, we have roughly about a semi and a half, semi and a quarter filled with clothes, food, personal hygiene items, pet food, diapers and blankets,” says Shawn Peters, creator of the Facebook page ‘PG Supports FTMac.’

He says it’s been a joint effort, with donations coming in from such northern communities as Fraser Lake, Vanderhoof, Mackenzie and Quesnel.

“I’m totally impressed. It’s nice to see how much has come but we’re still taking donations until 9 tonight.”

Peters says one truck (donated by Rosenau Transport) will leave tonight for Buffalo Lake while another will depart for Edmonton tomorrow morning (donated by Lucas Holdings).

If you’d like to donate any items you’re encouraged to drop them off at the Kinsmen Community Complex located at 777 Kinsmen Place.
