Prince George, B.C. – There’s something for everyone at the Prince George Public Library this summer.

“We have a couple of new programs that are pretty exciting,” says communications coordinator Amy Dhanjal. “We also have some of those one off adult programs.”

On June 1st for example, Don Basserman will host a free talk entitled ‘Teas from Field, Farm and Forest.’ 20160512_130442-1

“So he’s actually going to give this talk where he tells people how to make tea from wild and domestic crops. He’ll talk a little bit about where you might find those kinds of things or what you might harvest.”

She says they’ll also be starting story time in their Knowledge Garden for the first time on Thursdays.

“Last year we hosted story time throughout the city at different parks. So that’s for young kids to come down weekly and enjoy a story outside.”

In addition, Dhanjal says teens may want to check out the library’s gaming centre.

“They can just drop in and game for a couple of hours if they want. We also have tech kits that people can check out of the library for some hands-on learning around coding and computers.”

She says the library is so much more than just a place to check out books.

“We have book clubs, there’s nice relaxing areas for people to just hang out. We also have a giant chess board people can use during the day if they like.”

If you’d like to learn more you can download the guide from the library’s website. You can also pick up a hard copy at Tourism Prince George, City Hall, Books and Company, or either branch of the library.
