Long Weekend Means Increased Traffic Volumes
Prince George, B.C.- Heading into the May long weekend, comes the reminder to take it easy on the roads.
RCMP will be patrolling the highways to watch for aggressive and high risk drivers, specifically, speeders.
The May long weekend sees increased traffic on roadways, and a change in vehicle styles as folks head out with trailers and campers to kick off their summer getaways.
ICBC and police are once again asking that you plan ahead for increased traffic volumes so there is no need to rush to reach your destination.
Last year, 18 people were injured in 110 crashes throughout the North Central region over the Victoria Day long weekend.
Ticket fines increase the more over the speed limit you drive. If you’re caught doing 20km/hr over the speed limit on a highway, you’ll be ticketed $138; do more than 40km/hr, and the ticket is $368 and police can impound your vehicle.
