Ride Don’t Hide Sets Wheels in Motion
Prince George, B.C. – The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) in PG is getting ready for the Ride Don’t Hide event that is set for late June.
Cyclist and non-cyclists are being called upon to take part in the June 26th event which expects to see more than 6 thousand cyclists in 32 communities across the country , including Prince George, to help raise money for Mental Health.
“Ride Don’t Hide is an opportunity to come together as a community and say mental health is important to me, and it’s ok to talk about,” says Maureen Davis, Executive Director of CMHA-PG Branch. “We are so thankful for the support from the community, and those who have shared their personal experiences of why mental health is important to them.”
Ride Don’t Hide was started by Vancouver teacher Michael Schratter. He has a bipolar disorder, and spent a year and a half cycling around the world. He made the 40 thousand kilometer ride to raise awareness about mental illness. His dedication inspired folks to donate to the cause, and he raised $100 thousand dollars for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
This will be the fourth Ride Don’t Hide event in Prince George. It is open to cyclists of all ages and skill levels. Registraion is $35 for youth and free for anyone the age of 12. The National fundraising goal is $1.5 million. Riders can register online by clicking here.
