Life Threatening Injuries in Williams Lake-area Accident
Williams Lake, B.C. – The Williams Lake RCMP and North District Traffic Services are investigating a single-vehicle accident Friday morning which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.
At about 8:20 am Friday police received a report of a single-vehicle MVI with the driver trapped in the vehicle. The location was the Upper Dog Creek Road on the Dog Creek Indian Reserve, south of the band office.
Witness evidence and scene examination indicated that the vehicle, a Toyota Echo driven by a 34-year-old man, was travelling north and went off the road into the left ditch and then came back onto the dirt road.
The Williams Lake RCMP was assisted by the local Indian Band Emergency Services, Williams Lake SAR and RCMP North District ICARS. The driver and lone occupant was extricated from the vehicle and suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. His name has not been released.
The accident is still under investigation but police say it appears alcohol consumption may be a contributing factor.
