Fort Fraser, B.C.-  Two men  have  been confirmed to have died  in a fire  that occurred in Fort Fraser on Friday May 27th.

Fraser Lake RCMP were advised of a fire in the 700 Block Birkshire Street in Fort Fraser  around 9:30 pm  on the 27th.

Officers attended and observed two men inside (aged 58 & 68) and entered the residence to rescue both individuals who officers learned were deceased at the time of entry. Before they were able to recover the 2 men, the officers were pushed back out of the residence by thick black smoke.

Preliminary investigation suggests the fire was accidental and non-criminal in nature.

The investigation is now being led by the Fort Fraser Fire department and the BC Coroner’s Service.
