Prince George, B.C.- The Provincial Government’s  Select Standing Committee on Health will be coming to Prince George   for a day long  session on July 5th.

The Committee is  gathering input  province-wide,  on how to maintain  quality  and  sustainability of the health care system in B.C.

Public hearings have been scheduled  for  a number of communities,  including Prince George,  but the  location of the public hearing  in P.G.  has yet to be determined.

The Committee is looking  for  suggestions that would address the following  questions:

    1. How can health and health care services in rural British Columbia be improved? In particular, what long-term solutions can address the challenges of recruitment and retention of health care professionals in rural British Columbia?
    2. How can a cost-effective system of primary and community care built around interdisciplinary teams be developed?
    3. How can the effectiveness of addiction recovery programs be enhanced?

The consultation process is open to all British Columbians who are invited to attend one of the public hearings, or by making a written, audio or video submission. The deadline for submissions is July 29th.

Anyone wishing to make a submission at a public hearing  is asked to register with the Parliamentary Committees Office by calling 1-877-428-8337 or 250-356-2933 or send an email to healthcommittee@leg.bc.ca   Be sure to include the name of the presenter (s), organization and contact information.
