Man in Custody Following Targeted Shooting

Monday, June 13, 2016 @ 12:29 PM

Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George RCMP has released more details in regards to this weekend’s targeted shooting.

This after multiple shots were fired during the supper hour Friday night at a residence on the 700 block of Freeman Street.

Police immediately attended the area and detained three people. No one was hurt though one bullet broke a neighbour’s window, narrowly missing the occupants, two adults and two children.

After obtaining a search warrant, Corporal Craig Douglass says investigators were able to determine it was a targeted shooting where multiple persons attended the home armed with firearms.

“An exchange of gunfire occurred between those persons and occupants of the residence,” he adds. “One occupant, a 25-year-old male Prince George resident who is known to police, has remained in custody and will be appearing in provincial court later today facing multiple charges.”

Douglass says investigators also recovered a quantity of illegal drugs, cash and evidence of drug trafficking inside the home.

He adds the incident occurred “as a result of a conflict within the drug trade” and that it’s “clear example that those involved in the drug trade have no regard for others.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.

Ah, my three favourite words: “Known to police” What a joke!

and it always seems to take forever before these people “are known to us”!

Got to love the “privacy” laws..

I would assume that those involved were non-natives since comments are being allowed.

Well it won’t be long now haha

comments are being allowed because the name of the accused has not been released.

It has been released elsewhere. Darius Trey Veld.

You’ve got to call that nice police work by the RCMP! Well done! Thanks.
