New Hunting and Trapping Regs Released
Prince George, B.C.- The new hunting and trapping regulations are now available and will be in force until 2018.
There are only a few minor changes to the regulations as they apply to the 7A wildlife management area (Omineca) which includes Prince George.
The season for mule deer bucks in a number of the areas within 7A has been shortened. It used to be that within areas 7-2 to 7-11, 7-15 to 7-18, 7-23, 7-26 to7-30 and 7-37 to 7-41 would be open from September 10th to November 20th. That season has been shifted and shortened to October 1 to October 31.
There are some date shifting for specifics within the mule deer category, but the overall length of the season remains the same.
The only change to the moose hunt regulations, is that the days for hunting moose calves will start Oct 7 and run through to October 16th this year. It starts three days later than allowed under previous regulations, but still runs 9 days so the length of the calf season has not changed.
The new regulations also see the season lengthened for hunting wolves, adding an extra two weeks so wolves can be hunted legally from August 1st right through to June 30th.
