Prince George, B.C. – The 6th annual Northern BC Motorcycle Ride for Dad, which raises money for the fight against prostate cancer, parades through the streets of Prince George today.
Registration for the event starts at 9 this morning at the Kinsmen Hall on Kinsmen Place and the fee is $30 per rider. That fee includes all of the day’s activities including lunch from Mr Mike’s, a poker run, access to all of the door prizes and more.
The ride through the city begins at 11 am and should take about an hour to complete and that’s followed by lunch. Organizer Charles Brunette says “the poker run (from 1 to 3 pm) consists of basically a couple of hours of riding around the city, going to different poker stops, getting the best hand that you can and then returns to the Kinsmen Hall where, upon completion, we do all the award ceremonies and the prizes for all the different categories.”
Brunette says money for the fight against prostate cancer is raised during this event through “pledging, registrations, we have a silent auction, a 50/50 draw, souvenir sales, things like that. Most of the money comes from pledges and registrations for the event.” All of the money raised here stays here, and last year the fundraising total was $72,000.
