Chetwynd, B.C. – Two people are dead following a two vehicle collision on Highway 97 this morning.

North District Corporal Dave Tyreman says it happened just before 11 a.m. on Wabi Hill about two kilometres east of Chetwynd.

He says the driver and sole occupant of one vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital and released while the driver and passenger of the second vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

North Peace Traffic Services are currently at the site of the crash conducting their investigation to help determine the cause.

Highway 97 is open to one lane alternating traffic though it is expected to open to two lanes within the next two hours.

The names of the deceased have not been released.
