Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect
Prince George, B.C.- There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for Prince George and regions from the Cariboo north though to the Fort Nelson area.There has already been one storm move through the Prince George region, causing a short lived power outage. Power outages are also reported in the south of Hixon and in Williams Lake.
Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
