Hamhuis Leaves Vancouver for Dallas

Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Cougars part-owner Dan Hamhuis is now a member of the Dallas Stars, signing a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the club as an unrestricted free agent.

The 12-year veteran of the NHL spent the past six seasons with the Vancouver Canucks and theHAMHUIS2 six previous seasons with the Nashville Predators. In 872 career NHL games Hamhuis has scored 55 goals, 248 assists, 565 penalty minutes and is a career +81.

Internationally, he has represented Canada nine times and captured three gold medals, including a 2014 Olympic Gold Medal. Twice he represented Canada at the World Juniors and six times he has suited up for Canada at the World Hockey Championships.

He spent four seasons with the Prince George Cougars (1998-2002). In 247 career games in the WHL he registered 34 goals and 122 assists. The Cougars made the playoffs in all four of his seasons. In 33 post season appearances, Hamhuis scored five goals and 13 assists.

He served as the Cougars captain during the 2001-02 season and that same season captured the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy (WHL Player of the Year) and the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy (WHL Defenceman of the Year Trophy).
