Sunday, July 10, 2016 @ 8:10 AM

Prince George, B.C. – The RCMP now says the victim in a single-vehicle accident Saturday evening on Highway 97 near Bear Lake was a 63-year-old Prince George man.

At approximately 7:00 PM Saturday, the Prince George RCMP, B.C. Ambulance Service and Prince George Regional Highway Rescue responded to a report of a single vehicle accident about 10 kms south of Bear Lake.  Upon arrival at the scene the lone occupant was located deceased.

An RCMP Traffic Analyst and the BC Coroner Service were called to the scene and the  investigation has led officers to believe the man was traveling south at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle on a corner and went off road to the right and rolled down an embankment.

The deceased man was not wearing a seat belt.  His name has not been released.

The police investigation is continuing.
