Register Your Bike for Free with the RCMP
Prince George, B.C. – Local Mounties are doing what they can to prevent bicycle theft in this community.
The Prince George RCMP will be at several locations digitally registering bikes as part of their recently announced partnership with 529 Garage (see previous story).
The app allows bicycle owners to digitally register their bikes into a reporting and recovery network.
The registration process takes about five minutes and includes essential information such as ownership details, the serial number and photos of the bicycle.
In the event of a bike theft, that information can easily be distributed to other registered riders through an alert feature on the smart phone app which can quickly be sent to the police and insurance companies.
Police will be registering bikes for free at the following locations and times:
Wednesday July 13th | 5:00 PM | 7:00 PM | Prince George RCMP, 455 Victoria Street |
Saturday July 16th | 11:00 AM | 2:00 PM | VLA Family BBQ, Strathcona Park |
Sunday July 17th | 9:00 AM | 5:00 PM | Downtown Summerfest |
Monday July 18th | 5:00 PM | 7:00 PM | Canadian Tire |
The Prince George RCMP say bicycle theft is on the rise in the community noting that from 2013-2015 498 bikes were stolen.
Mounties have also cautioned however that as little as 16% of stolen bikes are ever reported.

I think this is just swell, I am an avid tricyclist and have used my wheels for over a decade to carry myself and my pooch to my local watering hole. I hope they will extend this courtesy to three wheeled transportation. I’ve given every effort to don the paired wheel mode, but after a dozen or so libations I can’t seem to keep it right side up. With my hot rod registered my little K-9.0 can stay home on the colder nights rather than standing guard upon my steed as I catch up with my liver and my constituents.
You do realize that operation of ANY mode of transportation while under the the influence of drugs or alcohol can lead to a charge of DUI?
This includes human powered bicycles and tricycles.
You are not getting around anything.
I’m not sure that’s true. I’ve navigated around a multitude of roadblocks without a single issue during the Christmas season.
yeah,if you have those fancy bikes costing thousands of dollars, yes. get it registered.
Nice, I am saving up to buy myself a 4000.00 dollar peddle bike. I hear they are way super
faster than the 400 dollar ones. :)
Register for free? I just paid to register my ATV’s and they weren’t free. We don’t get dedicated ATV lanes in the city but cyclists get dedicated bike lanes and free registration? What a pile of BS!
