Mackenzie in Final Stretch to Find Funds for Rec Reno
Prince George, B.C.- The District of Mackenzie is looking forward to renovating its recreation centre and is very close to having all the dollars for the job.
The District of Mackenzie Recently celebrated the approval of $5 million in funding from the UBCM Gas Tax Strategic Priorities Fund. That is a significant chunk of the project’s estimated cost of just under $7.4 million.
With confirmed funding of $950 thousand from the McLeod Lake Makenzie Community Forrest revenues and a $250 thousand dollar grant from Northern Development Initiative Trust, the fund raising goal is within reach, but, there is still another $1,186 million to raise.
The renovation will see the 1960’s curling rink replaced with a re-configured multi-purpose community hall/activity centre. It has been designed to include a mixed use design for large format events, complete with stage, accessible washrooms, relocated children’s play area, and improvements to the lobby-office and concession area.
