Launch of Harry Potter Play a Magical Event at Books and Company
Prince George, B.C. – Books and Company in Prince George is planning what it says will be “a wickedly awesome evening”.
Tonight , from 10 pm to 1 am, Books and Company will be hosting a special event for the midnight release of Harry Potter scripts for parts I and II of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” play.
Books and Company’s Kayli VanderMeer says Harry Potter’s broad appeal has much to do with the world created by author J. K. Rowling “It’s such a well developed world. It’s such a global phenomenon that you can just throw a stone and hit a Harry Potter fan. So many people know about it, it feels like it’s a real thing. I think it was developed as such an inclusive world, there is a place for everybody in that world, it’s a nice little escape.”
She says that while the first Harry Potter book was viewed as reading for youth, as the series progressed, readers of all ages became enchanted.
The enchantment continues tonight with costumes, floating candles, a photo booth, costume contest, tea leaf reading, and a wand maker. VanderMeer says while the evening will be magical, she’s hoping the only thing that will disappear is the book.
