Norman Lake Evacuation Alert Rescinded

Saturday, August 20, 2016 @ 7:22 PM

Prince George, B.C. – A big sigh of relief for residents in the Norman Lake area.

This as the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) has rescinded the evacuation alert it issued last night in response to a freshly sparked fire.

That fire – originally 10 hectares in size – has now shrunk to seven hectares and is now 100 percent contained thanks to the efforts of the B.C. Wildfire Service.

“The Regional District would like to express its sincere thanks to the firefighting crews for their hard work in containing this fire quickly and effectively,” says RDFFG communications manager Renee McCloskey.

“We would also like to thank the residents within the alert area for their co-operation and patience.”

The evacuation alert covered roughly 260 residences in the area. Meanwhile the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
