Damaged Sign

Prince George, B.C.-  The  roadside  digital board that was in use  last weekend to provide information  to Norman Lake area residents about the evacuation alert  has been badly damaged, and Prince George RCMP  are hoping  you can help them  find the folks responsible.

RCMP  were notified on Monday of  theft and mischief to the digital roadside sign board that was located on Highway 16 at Norman Lake Road, west of Prince George.

The board was damaged and the batteries, solar panel and trailer licence plate (8761C) were stolen.

The damage and theft is estimated to be $20,000 and occurred sometime between the evening of Friday August 19th and the morning of Saturday August 20th.

I understand why someone might steal the batteries and solar panel, but what good does the license plate do anyone, and why damage the sign?
