Prince George, B.C. – The BC Aboriginal Provincial Soccer Championships are well underway in Prince George.

The tournaments opened Friday at the North Cariboo Senior Soccer League fields with regional teams for both male and female divisions in Under-15 and Under-17 categories.

There are teams from six regions: Fraser, Interior, Vancouver Coastal, Vancouver Island, Northwest and Northeast.  The winning teams earn a spot on Team BC for the 2017 North American Indigenous Games, which will be held in Toronto in July of next year.

There is also an Under-13 co-ed division at this weekend’s championships, which are hosted by the Prince George Native Friendship Centre and the Northern Sport Centre.

Play continues today and Sunday.
