Cougars Get Assistance from Former NHL Player
Prince George, B.C. – With the Prince George Cougars Associate Coach not available because of a health issue, Coach Richard Matvichuk has called on a former team mate to fill in.
Two time Stanley Cup winner, Shawn Chambers has joined the team as the interim Assistant Coach.
Chambers and Matvichuk were teammates in Dallas.
Chambers helped lead the New Jersey Devils and the Dallas Stars to Stanley Cup victories.
“I’m very excited and honored to join the Prince George Cougars organization,” says Chambers. He will start his duties behind the bench this evening in Kennewick Washington as the Cougars pre-season action continues with a game against the Tri-City Americans. Chambers is expected to be with the team for the balance of September.
