Ancient Forest Closure Extended
Prince George, B.C. – Wet weather means that the closures to the parking lot and Universal Boardwalk and Trail at the Ancient Forest along Highway 16 will be extended into early October.
The September closures were originally supposed to end on September 23rd but the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says they will now last until Friday, October 7.
Here is the schedule for the additional traffic delays and closures:
- Monday, Sept. 26 to Friday Sept. 30
- Monday, Oct. 3 to Friday Oct. 7
- Open on weekends
Highway 16 will also be reduced to single lane alternating traffic during construction. Traffic delays are expected to be less than 20 minutes.
The delays and closures are to allow for highway intersection improvements and parking lot upgrades to increase the safety and accessibility of the new park.
The government says it does not anticipate further closures of the park after October 7.
