Prince George, B.C. – After an impressive four game road winning streak to start the season, the Prince George Cougars will host the  Kelowna Rockets in their home opener at CN Centre tonight.

It will be the second of three games the teams play this week – the Cougars won the first in Kelowna Wednesday night 2-1. They’ll meet again tomorrow night for game three of the mini series.

It’s been a long wait for Cougars fans who haven’t had a chance to see their hometown heroes up close since being swept away by the Seattle Thunderbirds in the first round of the playoff’s last year.

Andy Beesley, the Cats vice president, business, says the club can hardly wait for the puck to drop just after 7:00 tonight.

“There’s two words I will use, they are optimistic and positive. We’re in the business of being optimistic and positive but this year we genuinely feel as if we have some substance behind our optimism and our positivity.”

He says those who come out to tonight’s game can expect a carnival like atmosphere.

“There’s a lot of things happening. We’ve got a brand new score clock which I think people are going to want to come and see. We’ve also got a band playing on the roof (Shortta Cash) an hour before game time, Save-On-Foods is doing a barbecue for donations to BC Children’s Hospital plus lots of entertainment on the concourse and in the arena.”

Beesley adds picking up your tickets early would be a wise choice.

“There are lots of tickets available right now but your best bet is to get them online or drop into the Ticketmaster box office early because every single year there’s a significant number of people who miss the first period because the lineups are so long.”
