Prince George, B.C.-  From a sprawling ranch with  triple garage in the north end of Prince George,  to a  one level 3 bedroom  bungalow  in College Heights,  today’s Parade of Homes  offered something for every kind of family.

Organized by the Canadian Home Builders Association of Northern B.C.,  today’s event,  (which runs until 5) connects people with those who build. (complete map of  home sites available here)

“Building a home is a year long process” says Jody Tindill , President of the  Association “A lot of time,  people don’t get to meet the builder,  they meet a realtor. We (builders) know  more about the home and how it was constructed than a realtor will so getting out to  meet the builder is very important.”

She says  it’s important   for  those who are having a home built,  have a relationship  with their builder “As a builder,  you’re in contact  with your client during that year long process, so  you need to connect with them.”

She says its important for  those having a home built  to “interview”  their potential builder “to see if  it’s going to be a good fit for you”.

The lead home in today’s Parade is located on Vista Ridge Drive in College Heights,  visitors to that site  can  also enter a draw for  a prize of living  room furniture.

The Moarice Drive home in University Heights was amazing. I was shocked at how poorly put together some of the other homes were. $500K +, brand new, with squeaky floors, lazy mudding, sheet vinyl, etc. Really goes to show that newer is not always better.
