Prince George, B.C. – Canfor’s Intercon pulp mill on Prince George Pulpmill Road is down due to a loss of power.
“The RCMP is investigating, as it appears this was caused by interference with the power systems that supply the mill,” says spokesperson Corinne Stavness. “Our teams are working to get the mill back up and running safely, and at this point we cannot comment on how long that will take.”
No word from the company on when the mill went down or how many workers have been affected.

that is not going to be good.
Wondered why the air smelled funny. Holy Crap, it was FRESH AIR! LOL
Province offers up pulp mills one hundred million for energy conservation.I sure hope they did not run out of subsidies.
Can you give us any information to back up your statement oldman1.?
I guess Intercon must not make their own electricity, like PG and Northwood do.
metalman.
They make some not all.
Palopu–You can google what I said for info.
Rumor has it that someone was screwing with the pumps at the pump house… the mill lost its water supply. maybe someone looking for copper ? Guess we will find out sooner or later.
Palopu- Seeing the other article is closed this is also for you to read. Google- complaint-based systems failing abused foreign workers. Read the last article -sent home after complaining. I don’t think this person was smiling.
Once again . The grid can’t be trusted . At least our hospitals, airports , etc , have leant that lessen . Maybe our industry could some day get off welfare and look after themselves as well . Poor forward thinking produces poor results .
See PVal’s comment above. Thieves cut the power to the pump house & stole the copper, the mill was effectively shut down because they lost their water supply.
